Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Breast cancer screening remains one of the most important strategies for reducing breast cancer mortality. Mammography is the current standard modality; however, pain associated with breast compression, embarrassment, radiation exposure, and reduced sensitivity in women with dense breasts may limit both participation and diagnostic performance. Contrast-enhanced breast MRI provides high sensitivity, but its broad use for screening is limited by the need for intravenous contrast administration, cost, examination time, and feasibility for repeated examinations. This Special Issue aims to explore the emerging role of non-contrast breast MRI, particularly diffusion-weighted imaging and diffusion-weighted whole-body imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS), in breast cancer screening. DWIBS-based screening may offer a painless, radiation-free, non-contrast approach that can be repeatedly performed and may serve as a new screening entry point for women who avoid or are underserved by conventional mammography-based programs. In this Special Issue, original research articles, reviews, technical notes, perspectives, and implementation studies are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, non-contrast breast MRI, diffusion-weighted imaging, DWIBS, screening performance, cancer detection rate, positive predictive value, dense breasts, image-quality control, remote interpretation, artificial intelligence, and clinical pathways after positive screening findings. Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
