Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the rising incidence of urological cancers driven by an aging population, there is an urgent need to adapt surgical treatment and care to meet the complex needs of older adults. As surgical techniques in urological cancers evolve—embracing minimally invasive procedures, precision medicine, and enhanced recovery protocols—the role of nursing is undergoing a profound transformation. This Special Issue seeks contributions that examine innovative surgical interventions and evidence-based nursing strategies that address age-related comorbidities, functional decline, and the need for holistic, patient-centered care in this growing demographic.
We welcome original research, clinical insights, case studies, and reflective pieces that highlight healthcare professionals’ role across the surgical care continuum—from preoperative preparation to postoperative recovery and long-term survivorship. Topics may include perioperative care models, patient education and health promotion, complication management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the integration of new technologies into nursing practice.
By centering healthcare professionals’ perspectives on treatment and care, this issue aims to highlight the contributions of healthcare professionals in improving outcomes and experiences for patients undergoing surgical treatment and care for urological cancers.
