Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common cancer worldwide and remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Most patients are diagnosed at advanced stages when curative options are limited. Despite significant progress, the prognosis of HCC remains poor due to multiple drug resistance, tumor heterogeneity, and rapid progression. This underscores an urgent need for more effective, less toxic, and personalized treatment strategies.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute your high-impact work to this Cancers Special Issue, which focuses on local, systemic, and combinatory therapies addressing the unmet clinical needs of HCC patients. Cancers (ISSN 2072-6694) is an international, peer-reviewed open access journal that publishes high-quality articles in all areas of oncology, including studies reporting meaningful but negative results—promoting transparency and reproducibility in cancer research. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in the therapeutic landscape of HCC and provide clinicians and researchers with updated insights into treatment selection and precision oncology.

Original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) chemotherapy and radiotherapy, targeted therapies (e.g., antiangiogenic agents), immunotherapy (e.g., PD-1, PD-L1 inhibitors), cell-based therapy (e.g., CAR-T), oncolytic virus and cancer vaccines, small molecule inhibitors, and PROTAC. We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
