Dear Colleagues,
Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. While advances in surgical and systemic therapies have improved patient outcomes, pathological examination continues to play a central role in diagnosis, prognostic stratification, and therapeutic decision-making. In addition, increasing attention has been directed toward early detection strategies and precision medicine approaches based on molecular profiling.
This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances and showcase cutting-edge research in the pathological evaluation of colorectal cancer (CRC), integrating both basic and clinical insights. We welcome original papers, review articles, and systematic reviews focusing on innovative histopathological techniques, immunohistochemical and molecular markers, digital pathology, and artificial intelligence-assisted image analysis. Contributions exploring molecular biomarkers, morphofunctional analysis of CRC in 3D culture models, liquid biopsy-based pathological assessment, and genetic or molecular diagnostics are particularly encouraged. We also invite studies addressing pathological correlates of treatment response, tumor microenvironment characterization, tumor heterogeneity, and translational research that bridges bench and bedside to improve diagnostic precision and patient outcomes.
We invite contributions that advance pathological precision in CRC management. Your work will enrich interdisciplinary dialog and guide clinical practice.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
