Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

All solid-state batteries (ASSBs) are regarded as a revolutionary energy storage technology, which has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional liquid-electrolyte lithium-ion batteries, such as safety risks and energy density bottlenecks. With the rapid development of electric vehicles, portable electronics, and grid-scale energy storage systems, the demand for high-performance, safe, and long-life ASSBs is growing exponentially. However, the complex interfacial phenomena and challenges in system-level integration have become major obstacles to their commercialization. In recent years, great progress has been made in the theory and technology of interface engineering and system integration of ASSBs, which has promoted the improvement of battery performance and reliability. This special issue aims to present and disseminate the latest research advances related to interface engineering and system integration of all solid-state batteries. It focuses on promoting interdisciplinary communication among materials science, electrochemistry, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering, and providing theoretical guidance and technical support for the industrialization of high-performance ASSBs. The topics cover but are not limited to the following aspects:

  • Interface reaction mechanisms and kinetics
  • Interfacial engineering strategies
  • Synthesis and modification of solid electrolytes
  • Mechanical behavior and stress evolution
  • System-level thermal management
  • Multi-scale modeling and simulation
