Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The evolution of orthodontics and dentistry is being profoundly shaped by the rapid advancements in digital technology and the shifting expectations of patients. A contemporary approach often necessitates interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary expertise, leveraging digital tools for treatment planning to improve procedural accuracy and predictability, as well as fostering a collaborative team-based strategy. Emerging technologies are also contributing to the reduction in clinical invasiveness, requiring a new paradigm in patient management. Furthermore, innovative composite and ceramic materials with enhanced mechanical characteristics allow for the application of ultra-thin layers, optimizing both esthetic and functional outcomes. Initially introduced as a discreet method for dental alignment, clear aligners have now expanded their capabilities significantly.

Recent breakthroughs in nanotechnology and 3D printing have rapidly gained traction, prompting manufacturers to continuously develop novel materials and techniques aimed at delivering high-quality dental care with a focus on long-term results. The impact of these innovations extends across various dental disciplines, including restorative prosthodontics, oral surgery, implantology, periodontology, and orthodontics.

This Special Issue highlights the latest technological advancements that enhance the mechanical properties of materials used in different branches of orthodontics and dentistry. We encourage the submission of original research articles and systematic reviews related to the aforementioned topics.

Thank you in advance for your valuable contributions.
