Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In vitro techniques for studying plant tissues and cells are among the most commonly used biotechnological tools in both basic and applied research and have significantly contributed to the advancement of agricultural sciences. Today, they represent an indispensable tool in modern agriculture for several reasons. In addition to their role in fundamental research on plant developmental processes and functional gene studies, in vitro culture techniques enable the mass production and propagation of genetically uniform plant material, as well as the elimination of viruses from infected plant material to obtain high-quality material for nurseries. Moreover, for any plant cell transformation programme, it is essential first to develop a regeneration protocol for the desired genotype. The in vitro culture of plant cells and tissues is a powerful tool for crop improvement programmes, the conservation of the germplasm of vegetatively propagated species, and the protection of endangered plant species.
In this Special Issue, we aim to share knowledge on all aspects of plant in vitro culture research and its application for the advancement of agricultural science. Researchers are encouraged to submit original research articles, reviews, and case studies on various plant in vitro culture techniques such as micropropagation, somatic embryogenesis and its applications, germplasm conservation, mutagenesis breeding, protoplast and doubled haploid production, bioreactor innovations, the production of disease-free plants and useful metabolites, etc.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
