Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Climate change is exacerbating extreme weather events (droughts, floods, heatwaves) and triggering severe outbreaks of pests and diseases, posing unprecedented threats to global food security. As the cornerstone of human sustenance, the stable production of the three major staple crops—wheat, maize, and rice—is paramount. Traditional disaster management relying on passive field interventions is no longer sufficient to cope with the increasing frequency and intensity of these challenges. The convergence of advanced smart sensing, artificial intelligence, and digital monitoring technologies now offers a transformative potential to revolutionize agricultural disaster mitigation.

This Special Issue seeks to gather cutting-edge research that specifically addresses the resilience of wheat, maize, and rice​ systems. We aim to bridge the gap between crop physiological responses under multi-stress conditions and the development of intelligent, data-driven early warning and prevention systems. We invite high-quality original research, comprehensive reviews, and perspectives focusing on:

(1) Ecophysiological mechanisms of yield protection in the three staples under compound disasters;

(2) Innovative Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and IoT-based monitoring tools for real-time stress detection;

(3) Integrated agronomic strategies for climate-resilient cultivation.

Contributions that provide theoretical breakthroughs or scalable technological solutions for safeguarding the stable yield of the world's most vital crops are highly encouraged.
