Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Water-limited agricultural regions are facing increasing challenges due to climate change, water scarcity, soil degradation, and more frequent abiotic stresses, all of which threaten crop productivity and the long-term sustainability of agricultural systems. Developing water-saving and stress-resilient cropping systems has become a key strategy for improving resource-use efficiency while maintaining stable yields and ensuring food security.

This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in sustainable cropping systems for arid, semi-arid, and seasonally drought-prone agricultural regions. We welcome studies that improve our understanding of integrated crop, soil, water, and nutrient management, as well as innovative approaches for enhancing crop resilience and productivity under water-limited conditions. Topics of interest include water-saving irrigation, conservation agriculture, crop rotation and intercropping, crop physiology and digital technologies supporting sustainable crop production.

In particular, we seek original research articles, review papers, meta-analyses, and perspectives that contribute to sustainable productivity, water-use efficiency, climate resilience, and integrated management of both staple and cash crops.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
