Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Tea is one of the most important beverage crops worldwide, with substantial economic, cultural, and ecological significance. However, tea production is currently facing increasing challenges, including climate change, soil degradation, nutrient imbalance, water constraints, and biotic and abiotic stresses. Meanwhile, the demand for high-quality tea products and sustainable production systems continues to grow. Addressing these challenges requires integrated research efforts that connect soil management, cultivation practices, genetic improvement, and quality formation in tea plants.

This Special Issue of Agronomy aims to provide an international forum for the publication of high-quality research on tea plants, with a particular focus on soil management, cultivation strategies, breeding, and quality formation. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, soil fertility and health, rhizosphere processes, nutrient management, organic and mineral amendments, water management, cultivation practices, stress physiology, germplasm evaluation, breeding for yield and resistance, and the physiological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms underlying tea quality formation.

We welcome original research articles, review papers, communications, and short notes that contribute to a better understanding of tea plant production and improvement. Interdisciplinary studies integrating agronomy, plant physiology, soil science, breeding, molecular biology, and digital technologies are particularly encouraged. Contributions that link management practices and genetic factors with tea yield, quality traits, resource-use efficiency, and environmental adaptability will be especially valuable.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
