Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the coming years, vineyards and olive orchards will be facing the effects of the evident climate change. Vines and trees will grow under more water stress conditions because of rising temperatures, higher evapotranspiration rates and irregular rainfall patterns.

Climate change is primarily affecting vine and olive physiology, with a significant effect on grape and olive quality and yield. To manage the consequences of climate change, studies need to be carried out on the sustainable management of vineyards and olive orchards, considering but not limited to fertilization, irrigation, cover crops, tillage, mulching, choice of rootstocks and cultivars, precision agriculture technologies, and agrivoltaics.

The application of innovative technologies and decision-making tools will provide optimal solutions for the sustainable management of crops. The purpose of this Special Issue, ‘Sustainable Management of Vineyards and Olive Orchards Under Climate Change’, is to present innovative studies or approaches for both adapting and improving the management practices to climate change in order to ameliorate the yield and quality of crops and sustain the rural development of agricultural areas.
