Cover Story: This study addresses the challenge of balancing climate-resilient endangered species recovery with a culturally important-yet-conflicting form of land use on Lānaʻi, Hawaiʻi. We used systematic conservation planning (SCP), widely used for regional and landscape-scale planning, to inform localized climate-resilient species recovery efforts while addressing a potential conflict with subsistence and recreational hunting. Using SCP spatial tools, we identified areas that could support the climate-resilient recovery of 36 focal endangered plant species while maintaining the majority of the existing hunting areas. We also explored how SCP spatial outputs can be further interpreted to inform actionable conservation management. View this paper
