This journal retracts the article, ‘Building the Virtual Dancefloor: Delivering and Experiencing House Music Events in the Time of COVID-19’ (Grebenar, 2024).
Following publication, the Ethics, Integrity, and Governance Unit of the University of Central Lancashire contacted the Editorial Office with concerns related to the accuracy and validity of the Institutional Review Board Statement published in the article (Grebenar, 2024).
Adhering to our standard policy, an investigation was conducted that confirmed with the University of Central Lancashire and the authors that, while the study did conform with the Declaration of Helsinki and other general requirements for working with human participants, this study did not receive Institutional Review Board approval. As Institutional Review Board approval is a requirement of this institution and retroactive approval was not possible, the Editorial Board, the University of Central Lancashire, and the authors have decided to retract this publication (Grebenar, 2024) as per MDPI’s retraction policy (https://www.mdpi.com/ethics#_bookmark30, accessed on 27 March 2025).
This retraction was approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Tourism and Hospitality.
The author agreed to this retraction.
