Cover Story: The Global North–South divide oversimplifies global dynamics, as shown by the Global South Leadership (GSL) Index, which assesses leadership in 192 countries using 18 indicators. This tool highlights the significance of leadership quality alongside economic metrics for national development. Findings reveal a complex relationship between leadership and economic performance, with a strong correlation in the Global North and varied results in the Global South. The GSL Index promotes governance reforms by identifying strengths and weaknesses, facilitating the adoption of successful strategies from both regions. It underscores the need to rethink global governance frameworks, especially as emerging powers like BRICS-Plus reshape multilateralism and challenge traditional economic dominance. View this paper
