Re-imagining Power: A Holistic Examination of Renewable Energy Advancement within Socioeconomic Contexts

The special issue is designed to bridge the nexus between the development of renewable energy technologies and their socio-economic implications. The overall focus of this issue centers on the interdisciplinary understanding of renewable energy expansion. While the inherent concept of "power" is reframed in this context, we not only discuss it in terms of energy production but also delve into its more profound implications for economic structures and societal transformations. As for its scope, this issue embarks on a comprehensive examination of the intersection between renewable energy technologies and socio-economic phenomena. This includes a broad array of research from fields such as environmental economics, energy policy, social studies, and technological advancement. We aim to elucidate the reciprocal relationship between the propagation of renewable energy and its socio-economic ripple effects, including policy making, market adaptations, social acceptance, and behavioral changes. The purpose of this issue is to present cutting-edge research and thorough reviews to foster an in-depth comprehension of the complex interactions between renewable energy and socio-economic dimensions. This includes catalyzing scholarly debates that enrich the understanding of these interactions and informing policies and practices with nuanced insights that consider the holistic implications of renewable energy advancements. The special issue stands as a significant enrichment to existing literature by adding a socio-economic perspective to the predominantly technocentric renewable energy research. By illustrating the interwoven nature of technological progress, societal changes, and economic development, it paints a more comprehensive picture of the renewable energy landscape. This critical addition not only complements existing work but also extends the discourse boundaries, thus encouraging scholars, policymakers, and stakeholders to 'reimagine power' in the renewable energy context of a globalized world.
