Cover Story: Despite the rise in smart home devices, old fashioned physical sticky notes are still used to communicate messages like “Do not disturb”. In this paper, we present a novel IoT-connected digital sticky note system using e-paper display. Our solution enables users to send messages wirelessly from smartphones to digital sticky notes mounted on doors. Using a novel ultra-low-power protocol, the device consumes only 404 µA average current, offering over six months of battery life. The system includes a Wi-Fi hub, an MQTT server, and a mobile app—altogether creating a practical, energy-efficient alternative to paper notes. View this paper
