Cover Story: Usually, the diagnosis of breast carcinoma histologic type is made by a pathologist after biopsy and, in most cases, is subsequently confirmed after surgical resection. Very rarely, the two may differ, especially in the presence of characteristic features such as osteoclast-like giant cells. In our study, we reported a case of a 45-year-old woman, who underwent a core biopsy because of a breast mass, which showed a malignant epithelial lesion intermingled with many stromal osteoclast-like giant cells. On the core biopsy specimen, a diagnosis of breast cancer with osteoclast-like giant cells was made. Curiously, these cells disappeared in the surgical specimen. View this paper
