Cover Story: Tongue piercings are increasingly popular among adolescents and young adults as a form of self-expression. However, the presence of metallic jewelry in constant contact with teeth and oral tissues may trigger complications that many patients and clinicians underestimate. This narrative review summarizes evidence from case reports and observational studies, highlighting complications such as dental fractures, enamel wear, gingival recession, infections, soft tissue overgrowth, and even systemic risks like infective endocarditis. The paper emphasizes the importance of clinical awareness, patient education, and early management to prevent long-term damage associated with tongue piercings. View this paper
