Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chiral and circularly polarized luminescent polymer materials represent an emerging frontier in advanced fluorescent materials, where polymer architecture is used not only to control emission color and intensity but also to encode optical chirality in the excited state. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in the design, synthesis, photophysical understanding, and application of polymer-based systems capable of circularly polarized luminescence, chirality transfer, and stimuli-responsive chiroptical behavior.

Topics of interest include chiral conjugated polymers, helical polymers, supramolecular polymer assemblies, liquid-crystal polymer systems, polymer gels, fibers, nanoparticles, and hybrid polymer composites that exhibit circularly polarized fluorescence, phosphorescence, delayed fluorescence, or afterglow. Particular emphasis will be placed on energy-transfer processes, including FRET, exciton migration, charge-transfer interactions, chiral amplification, and ratiometric emission control.

The Special Issue also welcomes contributions on CPL-active polymer materials for chemical, biological, environmental, and chiral sensing applications, including detection of ions, small molecules, biomarkers, amino acids, enantiomers, pH, temperature, mechanical stress, and external stimuli. Studies addressing anti-counterfeiting, information encryption, bioimaging, flexible optoelectronics, wearable sensors, 3D displays, and polymer light-emitting devices are also encouraged.

By bringing together polymer chemistry, photophysics, supramolecular science, and sensing technologies, this Special Issue seeks to provide a platform for next-generation luminescent polymer materials that move beyond conventional fluorescence toward multifunctional chiroptical performance.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
