In the current era, Indian agriculture faces a significant demand for increased food production, which has led to the integration of advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity. Drones have emerged as transformative tools for enhancing precision agriculture, reducing costs, and improving sustainability. This study provides a comprehensive review of drone adoption in Indian agriculture by examining its effects on precision farming, crop monitoring, and pesticide application. This research evaluates technological advancements, regulatory frameworks, infrastructure, farmers’ perceptions, and the financial accessibility of drone technology in the Indian agricultural context. Key findings indicate that, while drone adoption enhances efficiency and sustainability, challenges such as high costs, lack of training, and regulatory barriers hinder widespread implementation. This paper also explores the growing market for agricultural drones in India, highlighting key industry players and projected market growth. Furthermore, it addresses regional differences in adoption rates and emphasizes the increasing social acceptance of drones among Indian farmers. To bridge the gap between potential and practice, the study proposes several policy and institutional recommendations, including government-led financial incentives, training programs, and public–private partnerships to facilitate drone integration. Moreover, this review article also highlights technological advancements, such as AI and IoT, in agriculture. Finally, open issues and future research directions for drones are discussed. BCTDNet: Building Change-Type Detection Networks with the Segment Anything Model in Remote Sensing Images

Observing building changes in remote sensing images plays a crucial role in monitoring urban development and promoting sustainable urbanization. Mainstream change detection methods have demonstrated promising performance in identifying building changes. However, buildings have large intra-class variance and high similarity with other objects, limiting the generalization ability of models in diverse scenarios. Moreover, most existing methods only detect whether changes have occurred but ignore change types, such as new construction and demolition. To address these issues, we present a building change-type detection network (BCTDNet) based on the Segment Anything Model (SAM) to identify newly constructed and demolished buildings. We first construct a dual-feature interaction encoder that employs SAM to extract image features, which are then refined through trainable multi-scale adapters for learning architectural structures and semantic patterns. Moreover, an interactive attention module bridges SAM with a Convolutional Neural Network, enabling seamless interaction between fine-grained structural information and deep semantic features. Furthermore, we develop a change-aware attribute decoder that integrates building semantics into the change detection process via an extraction decoding network. Subsequently, an attribute-aware strategy is adopted to explicitly generate distinct maps for newly constructed and demolished buildings, thereby establishing clear temporal relationships among different change types. To evaluate BCTDNet’s performance, we construct the JINAN-MCD dataset, which covers Jinan’s urban core area over a six-year period, capturing diverse change scenarios. Moreover, we adapt the WHU-CD dataset into WHU-MCD to include multiple types of changing. Experimental results on both datasets demonstrate the superiority of BCTDNet. On JINAN-MCD, BCTDNet achieves improvements of 12.64% in IoU and 11.95% in F1 compared to suboptimal methods. Similarly, on WHU-MCD, it outperforms second-best approaches by 2.71% in IoU and 1.62% in F1. BCTDNet’s effectiveness and robustness in complex urban scenarios highlight its potential for applications in land-use analysis and urban planning. Full article

Economic systems face critical challenges, including widening income inequality, unemployment driven by automation, mounting public debt, and environmental degradation. This study introduces Economocracy as a transformative framework aimed at addressing these systemic issues by integrating democratic principles into economic decision-making to achieve social equity, economic efficiency, and environmental sustainability. The research focuses on two core mechanisms: Economic Productive Resets (EPRs) and Economic Periodic Injections (EPIs). EPRs facilitate proportional redistribution of resources to reduce income disparities, while EPIs target investments to stimulate job creation, mitigate automion-related job displacement, and support sustainable development. The study employs a theoretical and analytical methodology, developing mathematical models to quantify the impact of EPRs and EPIs on key economic indicators, including the Gini coefficient for inequality, unemployment rates, average wages, and job displacement due to automation. Hypothetical scenarios simulate baseline conditions, EPR implementation, and the combined application of EPRs and EPIs. The methodology is threefold: (1) a mathematical–theoretical validation of the Cycle of Money framework, establishing internal consistency; (2) an econometric analysis using global historical data (2000–2023) to evaluate the correlation between GNI per capita, Gini coefficient, and average wages; and (3) scenario simulations and Difference-in-Differences (DiD) estimates to test the systemic impact of implementing EPR/EPI policies on inequality and labor outcomes. The models are further strengthened through tools such as OLS regression, and Impulse results to assess causality and dynamic interactions. Empirical results confirm that EPR/EPI can substantially reduce income inequality and unemployment, while increasing wage levels, findings supported by both the theoretical architecture and data-driven outcomes. Results demonstrate that Economocracy can significantly lower income inequality, reduce unemployment, increase wages, and mitigate automation’s effects on the labor market. These findings highlight Economocracy’s potential as a viable alternative to traditional economic systems, offering a sustainable pathway that harmonizes growth, social justice, and environmental stewardship in the global economy. Economocracy demonstrates potential to reduce debt per capita by increasing the efficiency of public resource allocation and enhancing average income levels. As EPIs stimulate employment and productivity while EPRs moderate inequality, the resulting economic growth expands the tax base and alleviates fiscal pressures. These dynamics lead to lower per capita debt burdens over time. The analysis is situated within the broader discourse of institutional economics to demonstrate that Economocracy is not merely a policy correction but a new economic system akin to democracy in political life. The rapid development of digital technology is reshaping the global economic landscape. However, its impact on firms’ capacity utilization rate (CUR), particularly through technological innovation, remains unclear. This study investigates this issue by developing an endogenous growth model that connects digital technology to CUR. The empirical analysis is based on data from Chinese A-share manufacturing firms. The methods employed include quantile regression, instrumental variable techniques, and various tests to explore underlying mechanisms. CUR is calculated using a special model that looks at random variations, and digital transformation is assessed using text analysis powered by machine learning. The findings indicate that digital transformation significantly enhances CUR, especially for firms with average capacity utilization levels, but has a limited effect on low- and high-end firms. Moreover, technological innovation mediates this relationship; however, factors like “double arbitrage” (involving policy and capital markets) and “herd effects” tend to prioritize quantity over quality, which constrains innovation potential. Improvements in CUR lead to enhanced firm performance and productivity, generating industry spillovers and demonstrating the broader economic externalities of digitalization. This study uniquely applies endogenous growth theory to examine the role of digital transformation in optimizing CUR. It introduces the “quantity-quality” technology innovation paradox as a crucial mechanism and highlights industry spillovers to address overcapacity while offering insights for fostering sustainable economic and social development in emerging markets. In arid regions, water scarcity and soil potassium destruction are major constraints on the sustainable development of the jujube industry. In this regard, the use of crop models can compensate for time-consuming and costly field trials to screen for better irrigation regimes, but their predictive accuracy is often compromised by parameter uncertainty. To address this issue, we utilized data from a three-year (2022–2024) field trial (with irrigation at 50%, 75%, and 100% of evapotranspiration and potassium applications of 120, 180, and 240 kg/ha) to simulate the growth process of jujube trees in arid regions using the WOFOST model. In this study, parameter sensitivity analyses were conducted to determine that photosynthetic capacity maximization (Amax), the potassium nutrition index (Kstatus), the water stress factor (SWF), the water–potassium photosynthetic coefficient of synergy (α), and potassium partitioning weight coefficients (βi) were the important parameters affecting the simulated growth process of the crop. Path analysis using segmented structural equations also showed that water stress factor (SWF) and potassium nutrition index (Kstatus) indirectly controlled yield by significantly affecting photosynthesis (path coefficients: 0.72 and 0.75, respectively). The ability of the crop model to simulate the growth process and yield of jujube trees was improved by the introduction of water and potassium parameters (R2 = 0.94–0.96, NRMSE = 4.1–12.2%). The subsequent multi-objective optimization of yield and crop water productivity of dates under different combinations of water and potassium treatments under a bi-objective optimization model based on the NSGA-II algorithm showed that the optimal strategy was irrigation at 80% ETc combined with 300 kg/ha of potassium application. This management model ensures yield and maximizes crop water use efficiency (CWP), thus providing a scientific and efficient irrigation and fertilization regime for jujube trees in arid zones. The Impact of Regional Policies on Chinese Business Growth: A Bibliometric Approach

In the context of both domestic and international economic landscapes, regional policy has emerged as an increasingly influential factor shaping the developmental trajectories of Chinese enterprises. Despite its growing significance, the extant literature lacks a comprehensive and systematically visualized synthesis that encapsulates the scope and trends of research in this domain. This study addresses this critical gap by conducting an integrative bibliometric and qualitative review of the academic output related to regional policy and Chinese firm growth. Drawing on a final dataset comprising 3428 validated academic publications—selected from an initial pool of 3604 records retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection between 1991 and 2022, the research employs a two-stage methodological framework. In the first phase, advanced bibliometric tools, and software applications, including RStudio, Bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and CitNetExplorer, are utilized to implement techniques such as keyword co-occurrence analysis, thematic clustering, and the tracing of thematic evolution over time. These methods facilitate rigorous data cleansing, breakpoint identification, and the visualization of intellectual structures and emerging research patterns. In the second phase, a targeted qualitative review is conducted to evaluate the influence of regional policies on Chinese firms across three critical stages of business development: start-up, expansion, and maturity. The findings reveal that regional policy interventions generally exert a positive influence on firm performance throughout all stages of development. Notably, a significant concentration of citation activity occurred prior to 2017; however, post-2017, the volume of scholarly publications, journal-level impact (as measured by h-index), and author-level influence experienced a marked increase. Among the 3428 analyzed publications, a substantial portion—2259 articles—originated from Chinese academic institutions, highlighting the strong domestic research interest in the subject. Furthermore, since 2015, there has been a discernible shift in keyword co-occurrence trends, with increasing scholarly attention directed towards sustainable development issues, particularly those related to carbon dioxide emissions and green innovation, reflecting evolving policy priorities and environmental imperatives. The food consumption stage, the final step in the food supply chain (FSC), where food has already undergone resource-intensive processes, plays a central role in the transition to a sustainable food system. Consumers’ food choices and consumption practices directly influence food demand, production methods, and resource use across the FSC. These factors affect global challenges such as overconsumption, malnutrition, hunger, and food waste (FW)—issues integral to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, this study aims to identify key aspects of the food consumption stage that influence the shift toward sustainability and to develop a conceptual framework to guide this transition. To achieve this, an integrative literature review (ILR), supported by bibliometric analysis and narrative review elements, was conducted to strengthen the conceptual foundation. The results reveal four central aspects: FW and its reduction, the need for dietary shifts, changes in consumer behaviour, and policy reform, highlighting the consumer and their behaviour as the central connecting element. Based on the findings, a framework was developed linking the identified problems with targeted solutions, which can be implemented through various tools that also act as drivers of change, enhancing sustainable food consumption, food system sustainability, and the achievement of global SDGs. This article aims to explore and analyze current issues and features of environmental protection in managing local tourism destinations based on the principles of sustainable development through the relevant literature and thus to provide an insight into major environmental measures and activities that should be implemented in practice, emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability as a key factor in the development and success of local tourist destinations in today’s business environment. Qualitative methods were used, with the literature review based on content analysis by keywords. This particularly affects the business process efficiency and the participation of destination stakeholders and in many cases leads to a low level of environmentally sustainable destination practices. In addition to this theoretical approach, this study also has direct managerial implications for destination environmental business operations. An attractive and well-preserved environment is the primary factor of tourism and local tourism destination development and its success, as well as an integrated part of the tourism product. This study addresses a critical gap in the existing literature on environmental sustainability at local destinations, where prior work has often overlooked the integration of actionable, practice-oriented frameworks tailored for both researchers and practitioners. While theoretical insights into sustainable practices abound, there remains a scarcity of holistic analyses that bridge scholarly understanding with implementable strategies for on-the-ground application. To fill this void, our research provides a comprehensive overview and systematic analysis of current practices, with targeted emphasis on co-developing scalable frameworks for improving environmentally sustainable practices at local destinations. A Bio-Inspired Adaptive Probability IVYPSO Algorithm with Adaptive Strategy for Backpropagation Neural Network Optimization in Predicting High-Performance Concrete Strength

Accurately predicting the compressive strength of high-performance concrete (HPC) is critical for ensuring structural integrity and promoting sustainable construction practices. However, HPC exhibits highly complex, nonlinear, and multi-factorial interactions among its constituents (such as cement, aggregates, admixtures, and curing conditions), which pose significant challenges to conventional predictive models. Traditional approaches often fail to adequately capture these intricate relationships, resulting in limited prediction accuracy and poor generalization. Moreover, the high dimensionality and noisy nature of HPC mix data increase the risk of model overfitting and convergence to local optima during optimization. To address these challenges, this study proposes a novel bio-inspired hybrid optimization model, AP-IVYPSO-BP, which is specifically designed to handle the nonlinear and complex nature of HPC strength prediction. The model integrates the ivy algorithm (IVYA) with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and incorporates an adaptive probability strategy based on fitness improvement to dynamically balance global exploration and local exploitation. This design effectively mitigates common issues such as premature convergence, slow convergence speed, and weak robustness in traditional metaheuristic algorithms when applied to complex engineering data. The AP-IVYPSO is employed to optimize the weights and biases of a backpropagation neural network (BPNN), thereby enhancing its predictive accuracy and robustness. The model was trained and validated on a dataset comprising 1030 HPC mix samples. Experimental results show that AP-IVYPSO-BP significantly outperforms traditional BPNN, PSO-BP, GA-BP, and IVY-BP models across multiple evaluation metrics. Specifically, it achieved an R2 of 0.9542, MAE of 3.0404, and RMSE of 3.7991 on the test set, demonstrating its high accuracy and reliability. These results confirm the potential of the proposed bio-inspired model in the prediction and optimization of concrete strength, offering practical value in civil engineering and materials design. This article provides a critical review of the current design and research challenges in contemporary timber architecture. Conducted from the perspective of a designer-researcher, the review focuses on the role of wood as a material at the intersection of environmental performance, cultural meaning, and spatial practice. The study adopts a conceptual, problem-oriented approach, eschewing the conventional systematic aggregation of existing data. The objective of this study is to identify, interpret and categorise the key issues that are shaping the evolving discourse on timber architecture. The analysis is based on peer-reviewed literature published between 2020 and 2025, sourced from the Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection databases. Fifteen thematic challenges have been identified and classified according to their recognition level in academic and design contexts. The subjects under discussion include well-established topics, such as life cycle assessment and carbon storage, as well as less commonly explored areas, such as symbolic durability, social acceptance, traceability, and the upcycling of low-grade wood. The review under consideration places significant emphasis on the importance of integrating technical, cultural, and perceptual dimensions when evaluating timber architecture. The article proposes an interpretive framework combining design thinking and transdisciplinary insights. This framework aims to bridge disciplinary gaps and provide a coherent structure for understanding the complexity of timber-related challenges. The framework under discussion here encourages a broader understanding of wood as not only a sustainable building material but also a vehicle for systemic transformation in architectural culture and practice. The study’s insights may support designers, educators, and policymakers in identifying strategic priorities for the development of future-proof timber-based design practices. Full article

This study intends to provide insights and challenges for the shape of the B movement, an emerging paradigm that fosters cross-sectoral partnerships and encourages ethical business practices through so-called purpose-driven businesses. Focusing on Italy, the first European country to adopt this managerial model, the research investigates Italian Benefit Corporations, known as Società Benefit (SB), and their most appealing sustainability claims from a consumer perspective. The analysis intends to inform theory development by assuming the cultural and creative industry (CCI) as a field of interest, utilizing a within-subjects experimental design to analyze data from a diverse consumer sample across various contexts. The results indicate that messaging centered on economic sustainability emerged as the most effective in generating positive consumer responses, highlighting a prevailing inclination toward pragmatic factors such as affordability, economic accessibility, and tangible benefits rather than social issues. While sustainable behaviors are not yet widespread, latent ethical sensitivity for authentic, value-driven businesses suggests that economic and ethical dimensions can be strategically synthesized to enhance consumer engagement. This insight highlights the role of BCs in catalyzing a shift in consumption patterns within ethical-based and creative-driven sectors. Full article

This study offers the first systematic exploration of the Greek e-Government team, a public sector innovation unit that operated within the Office of the Prime Minister of Greece from 2009 to 2012—the sole example of such a unit in the country. It illustrates how strategically positioned innovation units can function as change agents within government bureaucracies. The purpose of this work was to analyze how this distinctive unit functioned by bridging policy formulation, legislative drafting, and technological implementation at the highest government levels. The research involved thematic analysis of original interviews conducted with most core members of the team. The findings highlight successes, notably the Diavgeia transparency platform, which markedly improved administrative transparency, accountability, and citizen access to government decisions. Important challenges were also identified, particularly regarding the sustainability of the unit, issues of institutionalization, and meaningful citizen engagement. The experience of the Greek e-Government team suggests that public sector innovation (PSI) units are most effective when they combine high-level political access with multidisciplinary expertise and operational flexibility. The analysis also reveals inherent tensions between the need for centralized coordination and the benefits of decentralized implementation, as well as challenges in maintaining citizen participation throughout the policy development process. The Impact of Green Finance on Energy Transition Under Climate Change

In recent years, growing concerns over environmental degradation and deepening awareness of the necessity of sustainable development have propelled green and low-carbon energy transition into a focal issue for both academia and policymakers. By decomposing energy transition into the transformation of energy structure and the upgrading of energy efficiency, this study investigates the impact and mechanisms of green finance on energy transition across 30 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) in China, with the exception of Tibet. In addition, the impact of climate change is incorporated into the analytical framework. Empirical results demonstrate that green finance development significantly accelerates energy transition, a conclusion robust to rigorous validation. Analysis of the mechanism shows that green finance promotes energy transition through the facilitation of technological innovation and the upgrade of industrial structures. Moreover, empirical evidence reveals that climate change undermines the promotional influence of sustainable finance on energy system transformation. The magnitude of this suppression varies nonlinearly across provincial jurisdictions with differing energy transition progress. Regional heterogeneity analyses further uncover marked discrepancies in climate–finance interactions, demonstrating amplified effects in coastal economic hubs, underdeveloped western provinces, and regions with mature eco-financial markets. According to these findings, actionable policy suggestions are put forward to strengthen green finance and accelerate energy transition. Full article

Under the rapid development of the digital economy, the interactive relationship between exports and the digital economy has become an important issue for promoting regional economic growth. Based on the panel data of 31 provinces and municipalities in China from 2012 to 2022, this paper systematically examines the impact of exports on economic growth and the moderating role of the digital economy, and it introduces research and development (R&D) investment to test its mediating mechanism. The research finds that exports significantly promote regional economic growth. The digital economy has a negative moderating effect on the export growth effect, and it is significant in the eastern region but not significant in the central and western regions, showing obvious regional heterogeneity. R&D investment has played a partial mediating role between exports and economic growth. This paper suggests that the government should focus on regional differences, promote the deep integration of the digital economy and exports, enhance technological innovation capabilities, formulate differentiated policies based on local conditions, strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure, optimize the export structure, support the development of R&D-driven enterprises, and build a digital export system that promotes regional coordination and high-quality growth, so as to achieve high-quality coordinated sustainable regional development. This paper also has certain reference value for other developing economies, in promoting the integration of the digital economy and trade. Full article

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a crucial global food crop. The intensive crop farming, monoculture cultivation, and impact of climate change affect the susceptibility of wheat cultivars to biotic stresses, mainly caused by soil fungal pathogens, especially those belonging to the genus Fusarium. This situation threatens yield and grain quality through root and crown rot. While conventional chemical fungicides face resistance issues and environmental concerns, biological alternatives like seed priming with natural metabolites are gaining attention. Polyamines, including putrescine, spermidine, and spermine, are attractive priming agents influencing plant development and abiotic stress responses. Spermine in particular shows potential for in vitro antifungal activity against Fusarium. Optimising spermine concentration for seed priming is crucial to maximising protection against Fusarium infection while ensuring robust plant growth. In this research, we explored the potential of the polyamine spermine as a seed treatment to enhance wheat resilience, aiming to identify a sustainable alternative to synthetic fungicides. Our findings revealed that a six-hour seed soak in spermine solutions ranging from 0.5 to 5 mM did not delay germination or seedling growth. In fact, the 5 mM concentration significantly stimulated root weight and length. In complementary in vitro assays, we evaluated the antifungal activity of spermine (0.5–5 mM) against three Fusarium species. The results demonstrated complete inhibition of Fusarium culmorum growth at 5 mM spermine. A less significant effect on Fusarium graminearum and little to no impact on Fusarium oxysporum were found. The performed analysis revealed that the spermine had a fungistatic effect against the pathogen, retarding the mycelium growth of F. culmorum inoculated on the seed surface. A pot experiment with Bulgarian soft wheat cv. Sadovo-1 was carried out to estimate the effect of seed priming with spermine against infection with isolates of pathogenic fungus F. culmorum on plant growth and disease severity. Our results demonstrated that spermine resulted in a reduced distribution of F. culmorum and improved plant performance, as evidenced by the higher fresh weight and height of plants pre-treated with spermine. This research describes the efficacy of spermine seed priming as a novel strategy for managing Fusarium root and crown rot in wheat. Full article
