The aircraft nose-wheel steering system serves as a critical component for ensuring ground taxiing safety and maneuvering efficiency. However, its dynamic control stability faces significant challenges under complex operational conditions. Existing research predominantly focuses on single-discipline modeling, with insufficient in-depth analysis of the coupling effects between hydraulic system dynamics and mechanical dynamics. Traditional PID controllers exhibit limitations in scenarios involving nonlinear time-varying conditions caused by normal load fluctuations of the landing gear buffer strut during high-speed landing phases, including increased control overshoot and inadequate adaptability to abrupt load variations. These issues severely compromise the stability of high-speed deviation correction and overall aircraft safety. To address these challenges, this study constructs a digital twin model based on real aircraft data and innovatively implements multidisciplinary co-simulation via Simcenter 3D, AMESim 2021.1, and MATLAB R2020a. A fuzzy adaptive PID controller is specifically designed to achieve adaptive adjustment of control parameters. Comparative analysis through co-simulation demonstrates that the proposed mechanical–electrical–hydraulic collaborative control strategy significantly reduces response delay, effectively minimizes control overshoot, and decreases hydraulic pressure-fluctuation amplitude by over 85.2%. This work provides a novel methodology for optimizing steering stability under nonlinear interference scenarios, offering substantial engineering applicability and promotion value. Full article

An Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) is an indispensable part of image sensor systems. This paper presents a silicon-based 13-bit 100 kS/s two-step single-slope analog-to-digital converter (TS-SS ADC) for infrared image sensors with a frame rate of 100 Hz. For the charge leakage and offset voltage issues inherent in conventional TS-SS ADC, a four-terminal comparator was employed to resolve the fine ramp voltage offset caused by charge redistribution in storage and parasitic capacitors. In addition, a current-steering digital-to-analog converter (DAC) was adopted to calibrate the voltage reference of the dynamic comparator and mitigate differential nonlinearity (DNL)/integral nonlinearity (INL). To eliminate quantization dead zones, a 1-bit redundancy was incorporated into the fine quantization circuit. Finally, the quantization scheme consisted of 7-bit coarse quantization followed by 7-bit fine quantization. The ADC was implemented using an SMIC 55 nm processSemiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, Shanghai, China. The post-simulation results show that when the power supply is 3.3 V, the ADC achieves a quantization range of 1.3 V–3 V. Operating at a 100 kS/s sampling rate, the proposed ADC exhibits an effective number of bits (ENOBs) of 11.86, a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 97.45 dB, and a signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio (SNDR) of 73.13 dB. The power consumption of the ADC was 22.18 mW. Full article

High-precision time–frequency systems are essential for low Earth orbit (LEO) navigation satellites to achieve real-time (RT) centimeter-level positioning services. However, subject to stringent size, power, and cost constraints, LEO satellites are typically equipped with oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXOs) as the system clock. The inherent long-term stability of OCXOs leads to rapid clock error accumulation, severely degrading positioning accuracy. To simultaneously balance multi-dimensional requirements such as clock bias accuracy, and frequency stability and phase continuity, this study proposes a linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) frequency precision steering method that integrates a four-dimensional constraint integrated (FDCI) model and hierarchical weight optimization. An improved system error model is refined to quantify the covariance components (Σ11, Σ22) of the LQG closed-loop control system. Then, based on the FDCI model that explicitly incorporates quantization noise, frequency adjustment, frequency stability, and clock bias variance, a priority-driven collaborative optimization mechanism systematically determines the weight matrices, ensuring a robust tradeoff among multiple performance criteria. Experiments on OCXO payload products, with micro-step actuation, demonstrate that the proposed method reduces the clock error RMS to 0.14 ns and achieves multi-timescale stability enhancement. The short-to-long-term frequency stability reaches 9.38 × 10−13 at 100 s, and long-term frequency stability is 4.22 × 10−14 at 10,000 s, representing three orders of magnitude enhancement over a free-running OCXO. Compared to conventional PID control (clock bias RMS 0.38 ns) and pure Kalman filtering (stability 6.1 × 10−13 at 10,000 s), the proposed method reduces clock bias by 37% and improves stability by 93%. The impact of quantization noise on short-term stability (1–40 s) is contained within 13%. The principal novelty arises from the systematic integration of theoretical constraints and performance optimization within a unified framework. This approach comprehensively enhances the time–frequency performance of OCXOs, providing a low-cost, high-precision timing–frequency reference solution for LEO satellites. Full article

This paper presents a simulation-based investigation into control strategies for mitigating the consequences of cyber-assault on the steering systems of the Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS). The study focuses on two simulation experiments conducted within the Simulink/MATLAB environment, utilizing the catamaran “Nymo” MASS mathematical model to represent vessel dynamics. Cyber-attacks are modeled as external disturbances affecting the rudder control signal, emulating realistic interference scenarios. To assess control resilience, two configurations are compared during a representative turning maneuver to a specified heading: (1) a Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) regulator augmented with a Least Mean Squares (LMS) adaptive filter, and (2) a Nonlinear Autoregressive Moving Average with Exogenous Input (NARMA-L2) neural network regulator. The PID and LMS configurations aim to enhance the disturbance rejection capabilities of the classical controller through adaptive filtering, while the NARMA-L2 approach represents a data-driven, nonlinear control alternative. Simulation results indicate that although the PID and LMS setups demonstrate improved performance over standalone PID in the presence of cyber-induced disturbances, the NARMA-L2 controller exhibits superior adaptability, accuracy, and robustness under adversarial conditions. These findings suggest that neural network-based control offers a promising pathway for developing cyber-resilient steering systems in autonomous maritime vessels. Full article

To improve the stability and safety of electric vehicles during medium-to-high-speed cornering, this paper investigates torque differential control for dual rear-wheel hub motor drive systems, extending beyond traditional speed control based on the Ackermann steering model. A nonlinear three-degree-of-freedom vehicle dynamics model incorporating the Dugoff tire model was established. By introducing the maximum correntropy criterion, an unscented Kalman filter was developed to estimate longitudinal velocity, sideslip angle at the center of mass, and yaw rate. Building upon the speed differential control achieved through Ackermann steering model-based rear-wheel speed calculation, improvements were made to the conventional exponential reaching law, while a novel switching function was proposed to formulate a new sliding mode controller for computing an additional yaw moment to realize torque differential control. Finally, simulations conducted on the Carsim/Simulink platform demonstrated that the maximum correntropy criterion unscented Kalman filter effectively improves estimation accuracy, achieving at least a 22.00% reduction in RMSE metrics compared to conventional unscented Kalman filter. With torque control exhibiting higher vehicle stability than speed control, the RMSE values of yaw rate and sideslip angle at the center of mass are reduced by at least 20.00% and 4.55%, respectively, enabling stable operation during medium-to-high-speed cornering conditions. Personalized Constitutionally-Aligned Agentic Superego: Secure AI Behavior Aligned to Diverse Human Values

Agentic AI systems, possessing capabilities for autonomous planning and action, show great potential across diverse domains. However, their practical deployment is hindered by challenges in aligning their behavior with varied human values, complex safety requirements, and specific compliance needs. Existing alignment methodologies often falter when faced with the complex task of providing personalized context without inducing confabulation or operational inefficiencies. This paper introduces a novel solution: a ‘superego’ agent, designed as a personalized oversight mechanism for agentic AI. This system dynamically steers AI planning by referencing user-selected ‘Creed Constitutions’—encapsulating diverse rule sets—with adjustable adherence levels to fit non-negotiable values. A real-time compliance enforcer validates plans against these constitutions and a universal ethical floor before execution. We present a functional system, including a demonstration interface with a prototypical constitution-sharing portal, and successful integration with third-party models via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Comprehensive benchmark evaluations (HarmBench, AgentHarm) demonstrate that our Superego agent dramatically reduces harmful outputs—achieving up to a 98.3% harm score reduction and near-perfect refusal rates (e.g., 100% with Claude Sonnet 4 on AgentHarm’s harmful set) for leading LLMs like Gemini 2.5 Flash and GPT-4o. This approach substantially simplifies personalized AI alignment, rendering agentic systems more reliably attuned to individual and cultural contexts, while also enabling substantial safety improvements. Deliberative approaches to governance systems analysis and improvement are rare. Australia’s Great Barrier Reef (GBR) provides the context to describe an innovative approach that combines reflexive and interactive engagement processes to (a) develop and design a framework to assess the GBR’s complex governance system health; and (b) undertake a benchmark assessment of governance system health. We drew upon appreciative inquiry and used multiple lines of evidence, including an extensive literature review, governance system mapping, focus group discussions and personal interviews. Together, these approaches allowed us to effectively engage key actors in value judgements about twenty key characteristic attributes of the governance system. These attributes were organised into four clusters which enabled us to broadly describe and benchmark the system. These included the following: (i) system coherence; (ii) connectivity and capacity; (iii) knowledge application; (iv) operational aspects of governance. This process facilitated deliberative discussion and consensus-building around attribute health and priorities for transformative action. This was achieved through the inclusion of diverse perspectives from across the governance system, analysis of rich datasets, and the provision of guidance from the project’s Steering Committee and Technical Working Group. Our inclusive, collaborative and deliberative approach, its analytical depth, and the framework’s repeatability enable continuous monitoring and adaptive improvement of the GBR governance system and can be readily applied to complex governance systems elsewhere. This manuscript investigates the feasibility of Four-In-Wheel Electronic Differential Systems (4 IW-EDSs) within contemporary electric vehicles (EVs), emphasizing their benefits for stability regulation predicated on steering angles. Through an extensive literature review, we conduct a comparative analysis of various in-wheel-motor models in terms of power output, efficiency, and torque characteristics. Furthermore, we explore the distinctions between IW-EDSs and steer-by-wire systems, as well as conventional systems, while evaluating recent research findings to determine their implications for the evolution of electric mobility. Moreover, this paper addresses the necessity for fault-tolerant methodologies to boost reliability in practical applications. The findings yield valuable insights into the challenges and impacts associated with the implementation of differential steering control in four-wheel independent-drive electric vehicles. This study aims to explore the interaction between these systems, optimize torque distribution, and discover the most ideal control strategy that will improve maneuverability, stability, and energy efficiency, thereby opening up new frontiers in the development of next-generation electric vehicles with unparalleled performance and safety features. Background/Objectives: Endocrine disruptors (EDs) are xenobiotic chemicals that disrupt hormone signaling and homeostasis within the human body. Accumulative evidence proposes that EDs could affect systemic hormone balance and local microbial communities, including the female genital tract (FGT) microbiome. The FGT microbiome, and especially the vaginal microbiota, contributes significantly to reproductive health maintenance, defense against infection, and favorable pregnancy outcomes. Disruption of the delicate microbial environment is associated with conditions like bacterial vaginosis, infertility, and preterm birth. Methods: The present narrative review summarizes the existing literature on EDs’ potential for changing the FGT microbiome. We discuss EDs like bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, and parabens and their potential for disrupting the FGT microbiome through ED-induced hormone perturbations, immune modulation, and epithelial barrier breach, which could lead to microbial dysbiosis. Results: Preliminary evidence suggests that ED exposure–microbial composition changes relationships; however, robust human evidence for EDs’ changes on the FGT microbiome remains scarce. Conclusions: Our review addresses major research gaps and suggests future directions for investigation, such as the necessity for longitudinal and mechanistic studies that combine microbiome, exposome, and endocrine parameters. The relationship between EDs and the FGT microbiome could be critical for enhancing women’s reproductive health and for steering regulatory policies on exposure to environmental chemicals. This research introduces an innovative passive vibration control methodology employing acoustic black hole (ABH) structures to mitigate vibration transmission in electric automotive steering machines—a prevalent issue adversely affecting driving comfort and vehicle safety. Leveraging the inherent bending wave manipulation properties of ABH configurations, we conceive an integrated vibration suppression framework synergizing advanced computational modeling with intelligent optimization algorithms. A high-fidelity finite element (FEM) model integrating ABH-attached steering machine system was developed and subjected to experimental validation via rigorous modal testing. To address computational challenges in design optimization, a hybrid modeling strategy integrating parametric design (using Latin Hypercube Sampling, LHS) with Kriging surrogate modeling is proposed. Systematic parameterization of ABH geometry and damping layer dimensions generated 40 training datasets and 12 validation datasets. Surrogate model verification confirms the model’s precise mapping of vibration characteristics across the design space. Subsequent multi-objective genetic algorithm optimization targeting RMS velocity suppression achieved substantial vibration attenuation (29.2%) compared to baseline parameters. The developed methodology provides automotive researchers and engineers with an efficient suitable design tool for vibration-sensitive automotive component design. Full article

Millimeter-wave frequencies are crucial for meeting the high-capacity, low-latency demands of 5G communication systems, thereby driving the need for compact, high-gain antenna arrays capable of efficient beamforming. This paper presents the design, simulation, fabrication, and experimental validation of a compact, high-efficiency 1 × 6 linear series-fed microstrip patch antenna array for 5G millimeter-wave communication operating at 28 GHz. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a low-loss Rogers RO3003 substrate and incorporates an integrated symmetric two-way microstrip power divider to ensure balanced feeding and phase uniformity across elements. The antenna achieves a simulated peak gain of 11.5 dBi and a broad simulated impedance bandwidth of 30.21%, with measured results confirming strong impedance matching and a return loss better than −20 dB. The far-field radiation patterns demonstrate a narrow, highly directive beam in the E-plane, and the H-plane results reveal beam tilting behavior, validating the antenna’s capability for passive beam steering through feedline geometry and element spacing (~0.5λ). Surface current distribution analysis confirms uniform excitation and efficient radiation, further validating the design’s stability. The fabricated prototype shows excellent agreement with the simulation, with minor discrepancies attributed to fabrication tolerances. These results establish the proposed antenna as a promising candidate for applications requiring compact, high-gain, and beam-steerable solutions, such as 5G mm-wave wireless communication systems, point-to-point wireless backhaul, and automotive radar sensing. As part of the carbon peak and neutrality drive, an influx of renewable energy into the grid is imminent. However, the unpredictability of renewables like wind and solar can lead to significant curtailment if the power system relies solely on traditional generators. This paper presents a demand response mechanism to enhance renewable energy uptake by defining an optimal load curve for each node, considering the generator’s dynamic impact, system operations, and renewable energy projections. Once the ideal load curve is published, consumers, influenced by incentives, voluntarily align their consumption, steering the actual load to resemble the proposed curve. This strategy not only guides flexible generation resources to better utilize renewables but also minimizes the communication and control expenses associated with large-scale customer demand response. Additionally, a new evaluation metric for user response is proposed to ensure equitable incentive distribution. The model has been shown to lower both consumer power costs and system generation expenses, achieving a 22% reduction in renewable energy wastage. Full article

Meloidogyne enterolobii, a highly virulent and broad-host-range plant-parasitic nematode, poses an increasing threat to global agricultural production. By inducing the formation of nutrient-rich giant cells in host roots and deploying a diverse array of effector proteins to modulate plant immune responses, this nematode achieves efficient colonization and invasion, resulting in impaired crop growth and significant economic losses. In recent years, global climate warming combined with the rapid development of protected agriculture has broken the traditional geographical limits of tropical and subtropical regions, thereby increasing the risk of M. enterolobii occurrence in temperate and high-latitude areas. Concurrently, conventional chemical control methods are increasingly limited by environmental pollution and the development of resistance, steering research toward green control strategies. This review systematically summarizes the latest research progress of M. enterolobii in terms of ecological diffusion trends, pathogenic mechanisms, and green control, and explored the feasibility of integrating multidisciplinary technologies to construct an efficient and precise control system. The ultimate aim is to provide theoretical support and technical supports for green and sustainable development of global agriculture. Full article

Fault-Tolerant Control of the Electro-Mechanical Compound Transmission System of Tracked Vehicles Based on the Anti-Windup PID Algorithm

The electromechanical composite transmission technology for tracked vehicles demonstrates excellent performance in energy efficiency, mobility, and ride comfort. However, due to frequent operation under harsh conditions, the components of the electric drive system, such as drive motors, are prone to failures. This paper proposes three fault-tolerant control methods for three typical fault scenarios of the electromechanical composite transmission system (ECTS) to ensure the normal operation of tracked vehicles. Firstly, an ECTS and the electromechanical coupling dynamics model of the tracked vehicle are established. Moreover, a double-layer anti-windup PID control for motors and an instantaneous optimal control strategy for the engine are proposed in the fault-free case. Secondly, an anti-windup PID control law for motors and an engine control strategy considering the state of charge (SOC) and driving demands are developed in the case of single-side drive motor failure. Thirdly, a B4 clutch control strategy during starting and a steering brake control strategy are proposed in the case of electric drive system failure. Finally, in the straight-driving condition of the tracked vehicle, the throttle opening is set as 0.6, and the motor failure is triggered at 15 s during the acceleration process. Numerical simulations verify the fault-tolerant control strategies’ feasibility, using the tracked vehicle’s maximum speed and acceleration at 30 s as indicators for dynamic performance evaluation. The simulation results show that under single-motor fault, its straight-line driving power drops by 33.37%; with electric drive failure, the drop reaches 43.86%. The vehicle can still maintain normal straight-line driving and steering under fault conditions. Full article

Comparative Analysis of Robust Entanglement Generation in Engineered XX Spin Chains

We present a numerical investigation comparing two entanglement generation protocols in finite XX spin chains with varying spin magnitudes (s=1/2,1,3/2). Protocol 1 (P1) relies on staggered couplings to steer correlations toward the ends of the chain. At the same time, Protocol 2 (P2) adopts a dual-port architecture that uses optimized boundary fields to mediate virtual excitations between terminal spins. Our results show that P2 consistently outperforms P1 in all spin values, generating higher-fidelity entanglement in shorter timescales when evaluated under the same system parameters. Furthermore, P2 exhibits superior robustness under realistic imperfections, including diagonal and off-diagonal disorder, as well as dephasing noise. To further assess the resilience of both protocols in experimentally relevant settings, we employ the pseudomode formalism to characterize the impact of non-Markovian noise on the entanglement dynamics. Our analysis reveals that the dual-port mechanism (P2) remains effective even when memory effects are present, as it reduces the excitation of bulk modes that would otherwise enhance environment-induced backflow. Together, the scalability, efficiency, and noise resilience of the dual-port approach position it as a promising framework for entanglement distribution in solid-state quantum information platforms.
