In this study, free vibration analysis of three-layer sandwich panels with cores based on a triply periodic minimum surface (TPMS) and graphene platelet-reinforced composite (GPLRC) faces is performed. Four different geometries including cylindrical, spherical, saddle and flat panels were investigated and the governing equations were solved using higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT) extracted from Hamilton’s principle. The accuracy and precision of the presented analytical method is verified by comparing the dimensionless natural frequencies with reference studies. Then, the effect of various parameters including panel geometry, core topology type and graphene weight percentage on the vibration response was investigated. The results show that adding graphene to the face layers significantly increases the natural frequencies and improves the overall stiffness of the structure. In addition, the frequencies of the panel may be controlled through different patterns and topologies. Also, double-curved panels, especially spherical geometries, present the highest fundamental natural frequency. The findings of this research could play an important role in the design and performance evaluation of advanced structures with TPMS cores and nanoscale reinforcement. Full article

Phytoplankton are primary producers in the aquatic ecosystems whose pigments, cell size, and physiological state affect how they absorb light and fix carbon. The phytoplankton absorption coefficient (ɑph(λ)) in the visible spectrum is a fundamental cellular optical property that determines phytoplankton–light interactions in the marine environment. This property links biological processes to ocean color remote sensing reflectance (Rrs), enabling an assessment of environmental and biogeochemical conditions in the ocean using ocean color satellites. This study presents a multi-stage systematic review of six decades (1965–2025) of ɑph(λ) research, with a focused synthesis of developments in the past decade. A bibliometric analysis empirically examines the research growth of the field and its thematic convergence into methodological divergence across six decades. Cluster analysis was used to compile influential research topics as well as emerging trends, to determine the scope and design of the systematic review. A focused systematic review of studies in the past decade (2015–2025) has been carried out to identify conceptual and theoretical advances, major observational and algorithmic improvements, and ongoing challenges. The data analyses highlight the accuracy achieved by various studies, the complexity of applications of algorithms, and product-focused developments. The ongoing challenges identified include resolving optical degeneracy, vertical structure acquisition, and scaling methods for operational use. This review concludes the centrality of ɑph(λ) as a key parameter to next-generation ocean color science, biogeochemical modeling, and climate-related ecosystem monitoring. Full article

Multilingual knowledge editing (MKE) remains challenging because language-specific edits interfere with one another, even when locate-then-edit methods succeed in monolingual settings. We study whether vector merging—combining independently computed per-language updates into a single edit—can mitigate this interference. We evaluate six merging variants with two backbone large language models, two base knowledge editing methods, and 12 languages on the MzsRE benchmark under a large-scale batch-editing setting, and we examine how the weight scaling factor and the rank compression ratio affect editing performance. Summation with shared covariance proves the most reliable strategy overall, whereas naive summation without shared covariance performs poorly. Task Singular Vectors for Merging (TSVM) helps only in specific settings, so its ability to reduce multilingual interference is limited. Performance is also sensitive to both weight scale and rank ratio, with larger-than-default scaling and relatively low rank often yielding the best results. When the results are analyzed by language-resource level, the choice of merging method matters most for the relatively low-resource languages, such as Thai and Vietnamese. These findings clarify the practical strengths and limits of current vector merging methods for MKE and provide guidance for future multilingual knowledge editing research. Full article

This paper aims to develop a conceptual framework of digital resilience rituals in order to illuminate the ways in which media practices can be seen as adaptive responses to information stress in the context of the current digital communication environment. By incorporating the theoretical perspectives of the concept of ritual communication and the theories of resilience and salutogenesis, the current study aims to reconceptualize the use of digital media as routinized and meaning-making practices. Algorithmically curated, information-rich environments generate continuous cognitive and affective demands, experienced as information stress. In response, users engage in ritualized media practices that structure attention, regulate emotional responses, and maintain a sense of control. The model identifies three types of digital resilience rituals: orientation rituals, emotional regulation rituals, and boundary-setting rituals. Conceptually, the framework links structural characteristics of the media environment with psychological resources, positioning ritualized practices as mediating mechanisms between environmental stressors and adaptive outcomes. By doing so, the study extends ritual communication theory toward adaptive regulation in digital contexts and offers a theoretically grounded basis for future empirical research on media practices, information stress, and resilience. Legume cultivation offers a chance for agricultural development on lands that have been abandoned over the years. In this study, simple agronomic indicators on the growth and yield of faba bean (Vicia faba L.), pea (Pisum sativum L.), and white lupin (Lupinus albus L.) were assessed on the abandoned agricultural lands of Foloi Plateau in Western Greece. Field trials were conducted from October 2023 to July 2025, and the legumes were grown either according to the false seedbed concept or with conventional seedbed preparation practices (direct sowing). The false seedbed involves pre-sowing weed control following initial seedbed preparation, and in these trials, it suppressed weed density by 62–77%. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) of faba bean and pea increased by 13% on the false seedbed plots, while white lupin NDVI was not affected by treatments (p ≥ 0.05). Destructive crop biomass measurements were in accordance with NDVI assessments. Faba bean and pea seed yield demonstrated an increase of 17% and 23%, respectively, in the false seedbed plots compared to direct sowing plots. White lupin seed yield was not significantly affected by false seedbed (p ≥ 0.05). This study provides preliminary evidence supporting the use of legume crops as a component of sustainable agricultural revitalization in the Foloi region. However, further research is required to optimize legume cultivation on the abandoned lands of the wider region as a first step towards the agricultural revitalization in the Plateau. Full article

Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites are extensively used in aerospace, civil engineering, and defense applications because of their low density, high specific strength, corrosion resistance, and structural design flexibility. However, prolonged exposure to hygrothermal conditions, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and thermo-oxidative environments can progressively damage these materials, leading to mechanical degradation and shortened service life. This review examines environmental aging in FRP composites at the levels of the polymer matrix, fiber/matrix interface, and reinforcing fibers. Representative predictive models, finite element methods, and experimental characterization techniques are summarized, together with the evolution of mechanical properties under different aging conditions. Hygrothermal degradation is mainly associated with moisture diffusion, matrix swelling, and interfacial debonding, whereas UV and thermo-oxidative aging are largely governed by photo-oxidation and thermally activated free-radical reactions. These processes may induce chain scission, crosslinking, matrix embrittlement, and interface damage. Under coupled environmental exposure, degradation is not simply additive because moisture transport, oxidation kinetics, and failure pathways may interact. Future research should emphasize multiscale characterization, anti-aging modification, interface engineering, protective coatings, and reliability-oriented lifetime prediction. Full article

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition characterized by impaired social interaction, communication deficits, and repetitive behaviors. Recent research highlights the role of the gut microbiota in ASD pathophysiology, particularly through the microbiota–gut–brain axis. The microbiota may influence neurodevelopment via multiple signaling pathways, including the GABAergic and serotonergic systems, as well as the mTOR signaling pathway. This analytical review examines current evidence on microbiota alterations in ASD and evaluates microbiota-targeted strategies for diagnosis and treatment, focusing on fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), probiotics, and diet-based therapeutic approaches. The review also provides a critical appraisal of the microbiota–gut–brain axis in the context of autism spectrum disorder. Full article

Consumption trends have shifted towards added-value, natural, less-processed, and more nutritious foods. Key factors shaping these trends include animal welfare, sustainability, globalization, cultural influences, socio-demographics, food safety, health, and nutrition. This structured and narrative review, following a systematic approach, analyzes future trends in food consumption, considers preclinical and clinical studies, and examines related industrial challenges. A comprehensive search across Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar was conducted, including original articles and reviews on food consumption trends or industrial processes, using Boolean operators. Potential gaps and biases of the analyzed articles were also included. Of 8742 articles, 58 studies were included. It was found that animal welfare has led consumers to adopt plant-based alternatives, protein, and more sustainable food consumption. Rising health awareness has led to the development of personalized nutrition, functional, and nanoparticle-encapsulated nutrient-based foods. Physiologically, trends indicate improvements in body weight, glycemic control, and lipid profiles, whereas emerging formulations show promise in enhancing cognitive function and nutrient bioavailability. Industrial challenges include refining and scaling up new technologies, encouraging sustainable production practices, ensuring food safety, fulfilling consumer demands, and developing safe, nutritious, and functional foods. Compliance with global health regulations should be prioritized. Continued multidisciplinary research is essential to understand the impact of emerging food trends on consumer health. Full article

Plot combine harvesters are specialized machines used in breeding trials, germplasm evaluation, and small-batch seed harvesting. Compared with conventional field combine harvesters, they have higher requirements for sample independence, grain integrity, seed purity, low residual grain, rapid plot switching, and plot-level data reliability. However, existing studies remain relatively fragmented, and many studies mainly focus on individual components, whereas analyses of whole-machine coordination, residual-grain control, crop adaptability, and data integration remain insufficient. This paper presents a structured review of the research progress in plot combine harvesters from an agricultural-engineering perspective, covering representative international and domestic models, headers, threshing and separation systems, cleaning systems, residual-seed removal devices, simulation methods, intelligent monitoring, and seed-quality sensing. Existing evidence indicates that plot combine harvesters are developing toward whole-machine low-residue design, coordinated threshing–cleaning–conveying optimization, standardized evaluation methods, sample identification, data traceability, and long-term field validation under continuous multi-plot harvesting conditions. Key challenges include coordinating small-batch intermittent material flow, controlling residual grain during frequent plot switching, balancing threshing completeness with seed protection, improving adaptability to different crops and breeding materials, and validating intelligent sensing technologies under field conditions. This paper provides an engineering reference for improving the mechanization, precision, and intelligence of breeding-trial harvesting equipment. Full article

Age-Stratified Long-Term Outcomes of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors for Stage IV Melanoma and NSCLC in the Netherlands: A Population-Based Study

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are standard treatment for melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), yet evidence on their effectiveness in older adults remains limited due to underrepresentation in clinical trials. This study assessed long-term, age-stratified outcomes of ICI treatment in real-world clinical practice. Methods: This nationwide observational study used data from the Netherlands Cancer Registry on patients with synchronous stage IV melanoma or NSCLC who received first-line ICIs between 2018 and 2023. Melanoma treatments included nivolumab plus ipilimumab or anti-PD-1 monotherapy; NSCLC treatments included pembrolizumab with or without chemotherapy. Primary outcomes were five-year overall survival (5-yr OS) and three-year conditional survival (3-yr CS), stratified by age. Results: A total of 11,140 patients were included, consisting of 583 patients with melanoma and 10,557 with NSCLC. In the melanoma population, 5-yr OS was 43.8%. Patients aged ≥ 75 years had a 5-yr OS of 30.8% and a 3-yr CS of 58.7%. In NSCLC treated with pembrolizumab monotherapy, 5-yr OS was 23.1%; among patients aged ≥ 75 years, 5-yr OS was 15.6% and 3-yr CS was 46.6%. Pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy resulted in a 5-yr OS of 14.6%, with corresponding 5-yr OS of 8.4% and 3-yr CS of 35.5% in patients aged ≥ 75 years. Conclusions: This registry-based analysis suggests that ICI are associated with durable long-term survival in real-world patients with stage IV melanoma or NSCLC, including selected older adults. These findings are in line with outcomes of clinical trials, but further research is needed on predictors of ICI effectiveness in the older population. Full article

Background/Objectives: Postoperative monitoring of microvascular free flaps is critical for early detection of vascular complications and flap survival. Nurses play a central role in this process; however, qualitative evidence on their experiences and challenges remains limited. This study explored nurses’ experiences in free tissue flap care to identify clinical practices, challenges, and improvement needs. Methods: A phenomenological qualitative design was used. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with nine nurses experienced in free tissue flap care, recruited via purposive and snowball sampling. Interviews were conducted online and lasted 30–45 min. Data were analyzed using content analysis with MAXQDA 2025. Inter-researcher reliability was 97%. Results: The findings were categorized into four main themes and seventeen subthemes: (1) clinical monitoring and evaluation in the care process, (2) challenges and difficulties, (3) emotional and professional reflections, and (4) suggestions for improving care. Nurses reported that flap care requires intensive monitoring, rapid decision-making, and close collaboration with physicians, especially within the first 24–48 h. Monitoring was largely based on observation and experience due to the lack of standardized protocols. Major challenges included high workload, frequent assessments, and donor site management. Emotional burden, stress, and responsibility were also prominent. Conclusions: Free flap care is a complex and demanding process for nurses. The lack of standardized monitoring tools and protocols is a key gap. Developing structured tools, improving training, and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration may enhance patient safety and care quality. Full article

Optoelectronic devices are emerging as a cornerstone of advanced renewable energy technologies, offering innovative routes for energy harvesting, conversion, and management with high efficiency and versatility. This review summarizes recent advances in the semiconductor materials engineering field, device configurations, and light–matter interaction mechanisms that underpin advanced optoelectronic systems for solar energy harvesting, solar-driven chemical conversion, and smart grid integration, among others. Emphasis is placed on the breakthroughs achieved in the perovskite and hybrid photovoltaics, photoelectrochemical energy conversion, and nanostructured optoelectronic platforms that enable much-increased light absorption, reduced recombination losses, and scalable large-scale fabrications. Moreover, the challenges closely linked with long-term stability, environmental durability and benevolence, and worldwide deployment are critically addressed, together with the emerging opportunities in AI design, tandem device technological solutions, integrated energy systems, and machine learning approaches for optimizing device performance, thermal management, and energy storage capabilities. Finally, the present review concludes by outlining the future research directions that could accelerate the transition toward high-performance, cost-effective, and sustainable optoelectronic solutions responsive to global renewable energy requirements. Nonlinear Redox–Immune Coupling Under Low-Dose-Rate Radiation: A Compartment-Specific Framework for Biological Responses—A Narrative Review

Ionizing radiation induces reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inflammatory signaling that contribute to both therapeutic efficacy and normal tissue toxicity. While the effects of high-dose radiation are well characterized, responses to low-dose-rate radiation (LDRR) remain inconsistent and are not adequately explained by conventional linear dose–response models. To address this gap, we conducted a narrative review of recent experimental studies across multiple biological systems, including body fluids, joint microenvironments, and reproductive tissues, focusing on redox and immune-related responses under LDRR conditions (dose rates: 0.39–3.49 mGy/h). Literature was identified through PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, with emphasis on studies published between 2015 and 2026. These studies demonstrate that LDRR elicits nonlinear, dose-dependent effects that vary across biological compartments and involve coordinated changes in oxidative stress, immune signaling, and metabolic regulation. Based on this synthesis, we propose a unifying framework of nonlinear redox–immune coupling, in which oxidative stress functions as a threshold-dependent regulator and immune responses follow a biphasic trajectory characterized by activation at lower dose rates and attenuation or adaptation at higher levels. These responses are strongly influenced by the local microenvironment, resulting in compartment-specific variability. This integrated perspective supports a shift from dose-centric to systems-level interpretations of radiation biology and provides a basis for improving biomarker development, risk assessment, and therapeutic strategies in chronic low-dose radiation exposure settings. Future research priorities include time-resolved mechanistic studies to define compartment-specific redox thresholds, validation of candidate biomarkers under identical multi-compartment experimental conditions (e.g., GSH/GSSG ratio, 8-OHdG, circulating cytokine panels including IL-10/TNF-α ratio), and integration of subject-specific biological variables (e.g., age, sex, and baseline redox capacity) into predictive models of LDRR response. Relict yew plants (Taxus L.) are not only ornamental plants with valuable wood but also have the ability to synthesize the unique compound taxol, which is successfully used in the treatment of cancer due to its powerful cytotoxic effect. Due to the presence of taxol, all parts of yew plants are extremely poisonous, but there have been cases where animals have eaten yew cones without fatal consequences. The biosynthesis of taxol is carried out due to the interaction of the isoprenoid and phenolic pathways of the secondary metabolism of plants. Despite the close attention of researchers to the peculiarities of taxol metabolism, there is very little data on the tissue and intracellular localization of both taxols and phenolic compounds in yew plants. Polyphenols are known to be physiologically active mediators involved in respiration, photosynthesis, plant growth and development, as well as in the process of in vitro dedifferentiation. Since Taxus is a relict species and has a limited and hard-to-reach range in nature, technologies that allow yew plants to be restored without removing plant material from the natural environment are of great practical importance: overcoming deep physiological dormancy of seeds, microclonal reproduction and initiation of plant growth. In vitro cultures are possible sources of biologically active and medicinal products. The aims and objectives of this study are to determine the characteristics of the formation and localization of phenolic compounds with high biological activity in various organs of plants of the genus Taxus and to determine the biological activity of ethanolic extracts from this plant. The objects of this study were the generative organs of Taxus canadensis, collected during the entire growing season (April–October) from plants growing in the Moscow region. The localization of various classes of polyphenols was determined by histochemical methods using light microscopy. Histochemical studies have shown the abundant presence of polyphenols in yew megastrobiles, microstrobiles, cones, seeds and aril. Ethanolic plant extracts were used to determine the biological activity. Flavans were dominant in the aril at various stages of vegetation, which was confirmed by our biochemical and histochemical studies. Extractive substances of T. canadensis show high antibacterial activity, especially in its shoot extracts. Ethanolic extracts from plant shoots showed greater biological activity than seed extracts. Aril extracts had the lowest cytotoxicity. Full article

This study emerges in Chile within the framework of an academic and political debate on inclusion, focused mainly on quantitative studies. Little is known about how the population and social groups give meaning to the experience of inclusion and exclusion from their subjectivity and sociocultural contexts. Adopting a phenomenological and social representation approach, the research explores the perspectives of thirty individuals with disabilities across eleven cities in the Valparaíso Region. Unveiling their narratives, the study identifies employment, participation, and recognition of identity as pivotal to inclusion. Yet, predominant themes center around exclusion, stemming from perceived limited healthcare access, discrimination, job instability, state neglect, and universal accessibility deficits. Findings underscore a persistent charitable view of disability, perpetuating inequality across various dimensions. This study illuminates the nuanced meanings and experiences shaping social inclusion and exclusion in the region, contributing valuable insights to its broader discourse. Full article
