The Magnetic Suspension Balance System (MSBS) serves as a core apparatus for interference-free aerodynamic testing in wind tunnels, where its high-precision levitation control performance directly determines the reliability of aerodynamic force measurements. This paper addresses the strong coupling issues induced by rigid-body motion in the MSBS vertical suspension system and proposes a decoupling control framework integrating classical decoupling methods with geometric feature transformation. First, a nonlinear dynamic model of the six-degree-of-freedom MSBS is established. Through linearization analysis of the vertical suspension system, the intrinsic mechanism of displacement-pitch coupling is revealed. Building upon this foundation, a state feedback decoupling controller is designed to achieve decoupling among dynamic channels. Simulation results demonstrate favorable control performance under ideal linear conditions. To further overcome its dependency on model parameters, a decoupling strategy based on geometric feature transformation is proposed, which significantly enhances system robustness in nonlinear operating conditions through state-space reconstruction. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method in vertical suspension control is validated through both numerical simulations and a physical MSBS experimental platform. Full article

In this paper, we investigate the generalized coupled Zakharov system (GCZS), a fundamental model in plasma physics that describes the nonlinear interaction between high-frequency Langmuir waves and low-frequency ion-acoustic waves, including the influence of magnetic fields on weak ion-acoustic wave propagation. This research aims to achieve three main objectives. First, we uncover soliton solutions of the coupled system in hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational forms, both in single and combined expressions. These results are obtained using the extended rational sinh-Gordon expansion method and the GG,1G-expansion method. Second, we analyze the dynamic characteristics of the model by performing bifurcation and sensitivity analyses and identifying the corresponding Hamiltonian function. To understand the mechanisms of intricate physical phenomena and dynamical processes, we plot 2D, 3D, and contour diagrams for appropriate parameter values. We also analyze the bifurcation of phase portraits of the ordinary differential equations corresponding to the investigated partial differential equation. The novelty of this study lies in the fact that the proposed model has not been previously explored using these advanced methods and comprehensive dynamical analyses. Full article

Modeling the electromagnetic (EM) behavior of CORC® cables presents significant computational challenges due to the coexistence of thin superconducting tapes and thick structural formers. This creates a strongly multiscale problem, making traditional FEM-based approaches cumbersome, as they require extremely fine meshes to accurately resolve the different geometric scales. Integral Equation Methods (IEMs), on the other hand, are well-suited for magnetization loss analysis in multiscale superconducting structures, as they avoid modeling non-EM-active parts of the domain. This greatly reduces the effort involved in meshing the computational domain. In this work, we propose an IEM that couples surface and volumetric models to perform transient nonlinear analysis of CORC®-like superconducting cables. Full article

We experimentally investigate the structural, magnetic, transport, and electronic properties of two d5 iridate double perovskite materials La2BIrO6 (B = Mg, Zn). Notably, despite similar crystallographic structure, the two compounds show distinctly different magnetic behaviors. The M = Mg compound shows an antiferromagnetic-like linear field-dependent isothermal magnetization below its transition temperature, whereas the M = Zn counterpart displays a clear hysteresis loop followed by a noticeable coercive field, indicative of ferromagnetic components arising from a non-collinear Ir spin arrangement. The local structure studies authenticate perceptible M/Ir antisite disorder in both systems, which complicates the magnetic exchange interaction scenario by introducing Ir-O-Ir superexchange pathways in addition to the nominal Ir-O-B-O-Ir super-superexchange interactions expected for an ideally ordered structure. While spin–orbit coupling (SOC) plays a crucial role in establishing insulating behavior for both these compounds, the rotational and tilting distortions of the IrO6 (and MO6) octahedral units further lift the ideal cubic symmetry. Finally, by measuring the Ir-L3 edge resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) spectra for both the compounds, giving evidence of spin–orbit-derived low-energy inter-J-state (intra t2g) transitions (below ~1 eV), the charge transfer (O 2p → Ir 5d), and the crystal field (Ir t2geg) excitations, we put forward a qualitative argument for the interplay among effective SOC, non-cubic crystal field, and intersite hopping in these two compounds. To improve the control accuracy and address the parameter disturbance issues of joint-driven permanent magnet synchronous motors in intelligent manufacturing, this paper proposes an improved deadbeat predictive current predictive control (DPCC) scheme that eliminates dead zones. This scheme establishes a multi-parameter identification model based on the error equation of the d-q axis predicted current, which improves the problem of not being able to identify all parameters caused by insufficient input signals. It also implements decoupling compensation for the coupling between the d-q axis inductance, stator resistance, and magnetic flux linkage. To meet the anticipated control objectives and account for external disturbances, a low-complexity specified performance tracking controller (LCSPC) based on output target error signals has been designed. This mitigates output delay issues arising from nonlinear components during motor operation. Finally, simulation analysis and experimental testing demonstrate that the proposed control scheme achieves high identification accuracy with minimal delay, thus meeting the transient control performance requirements for motors in intelligent manufacturing processes. Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat transfer in porous media are central to many engineering applications, including heat exchangers, MHD generators, and polymer processing. This study examines the boundary layer flow and thermal behavior of an electrically conducting viscous fluid over a porous stretching tube. The model accounts for nonlinear thermal radiation, internal heat generation/absorption, and Darcy–Forchheimer drag to capture porous medium resistance. Similarity transformations reduce the governing equations to a system of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations, which are solved numerically using the BVP4C technique with Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and sensitivity analysis. The effects of dimensionless parameters magnetic field strength (M), Reynolds number (Re), Darcy–Forchheimer parameter (Df), Brinkman number (Br), Prandtl number (Pr), nonlinear radiation parameter (Rd), wall-to-ambient temperature ratio (rw), and heat source/sink parameter (Q) are investigated. Results show that increasing M, Df, and Q suppresses velocity and enhances temperature due to Lorentz and porous drag effects. Higher Re raises pressure but reduces near-wall velocity, while rw, Rd, and internal heating intensify thermal layers. The entropy generation analysis highlights the competing roles of viscous, magnetic, and thermal irreversibility, while the Bejan number trends distinctly indicate which mechanism dominates under different parameter conditions. The RSM findings highlight that rw and Rd consistently reduce the Nusselt number (Nu), lowering thermal efficiency. These results provide practical guidance for optimizing energy efficiency and thermal management in MHD and porous media-based systems.: Full article

The operational stability and performance of dual active bridge (DAB) converters are dictated by an intricate coupling of electrical, magnetic, and thermal dynamics. Conventional modeling paradigms fail to capture these interactions, creating a critical gap between design predictions and real performance. A unified Port-Hamiltonian model (PHM) is developed, embedding nonlinear, temperature-dependent material physics within a single, energy-conserving structure. Derived from first principles and experimentally validated, the model reproduces high-frequency dynamics, including saturation-driven current spikes, with superior fidelity. The energy-based structure systematically exposes the converter’s stability boundaries, revealing not only thermal runaway limits but also previously obscured electro-thermal oscillatory modes. The resulting framework provides a rigorous foundation for the predictive co-design of magnetics, thermal management, and control, enabling guaranteed stability and optimized performance across the full operational envelope. This study tackles the challenges associated with permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) position control under complex operating conditions—characterized by strong coupling, nonlinearity, and time-varying parameters—which often lead to slow response, low control accuracy, and weak disturbance rejection capability. A high-performance control system is developed based on an active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC), with three key improvements proposed. Firstly, a modified nonlinear function is designed to suppress chattering. Secondly, a delay compensation module is integrated to synchronize the input signals of the extended state observer (ESO). Finally, an automated parameter tuning method is introduced using the Newton-Raphson optimization algorithm. Comparative simulations are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed system, demonstrating its advantages of rapid response, minimal overshoot, and enhanced disturbance rejection capability. For the proposed strategy, the maximum position tracking error is 0.1 rad, the adjustment time is 0.15 s, the dynamic speed drop is 0.025 rad, and the recovery time is 0.15 s—all comprehensive performance indicators outperform those of other control strategies. Additionally, automated parameter tuning eliminates the need for manual adjustments, reduces operational complexity, and improves tuning accuracy, thereby significantly advancing the position control performance of PMSMs. Full article

An improved QuEChERS method based on magnetic nanomaterials was established, and coupled with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography and a quadrupole electrostatic field orbitrap mass spectrometer, enabling non-targeted screening and quantitative analysis of commonly used pesticide and veterinary drug residues in Brassica rapa chinensis. The combination of magnetic PSA and magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was utilized for purification of 121 organic compounds spanning a wide range of polarities. Spiking experiments showed that the developed non-target screening workflow exhibited convincing identification results, with over 89.3% of chemical substances being screened out even at spiking levels as low as 2 μg/kg. The linear ranges of these target substances were between 1 and 200 μg/kg, with determination coefficients all exceeding 0.99. The limits of quantification were between 2 μg/kg and 10 μg/kg. The average recovery rates were in the range of 61.7% to 121.6%. Nineteen compounds were confirmed (meeting all the restriction conditions) and quantified from Brassica rapa chinensis collected from vegetable-planting bases in Jiangsu Province. The results indicated that the magnetic bead-based pretreatment strategy can be utilized for the simultaneous screening and quantitative analysis of pesticide and veterinary drug residues in Brassica rapa chinensis. This study introduces a novel numerical approach to analyze the axisymmetric bending behavior of functionally graded (FG) graphene platelet (GPL)-reinforced annular sandwich nanoplates featuring a porous core. The nanostructures are exposed to coupled magnetic and hygrothermal environments. The porosity distribution and GPL weight fraction are modeled as nonlinear functions through the thickness, capturing realistic gradation effects. The governing equations are derived using the virtual displacement principle, taking into account the Lorentz force and the interaction with an elastic foundation. To address the size-dependent behavior and thickness-stretching effects, the model employs the nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) integrated with a modified version of Shimpi’s quasi-3D higher-order shear deformation theory (Q3HSDT). The differential quadrature method (DQM) is applied to obtain numerical solutions for the displacement and stress fields. A detailed parametric study is conducted to investigate the influence of various physical and geometric parameters, including the nonlocal parameter, strain gradient length scale, magnetic field strength, thermal effects, foundation stiffness, core thickness, and radius-to-thickness ratio. The findings support the development of smart, lightweight, and thermally adaptive nano-electromechanical systems (NEMS) and provide valuable insights into the mechanical performance of FG-GPL sandwich nanoplates. These findings have potential applications in transducers, nanosensors, and stealth technologies designed for ultrasound and radar detection. Full article

This article presents an in-depth study of a dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) system used to charge electric vehicles (EVs), with a focus on modeling and controlling a double-D (DD) coil structure. The chosen DD coil design improves energy transfer efficiency and minimizes mutual coupling between adjacent transmit coils, a common problem in dynamic applications. A comprehensive mathematical model is developed to account for the nonlinear dynamics of the system, i.e., when the vehicle is moving and misalignments and coupling variations occur. A robust nonlinear control method based on sliding mode control (SMC) is implemented to ensure stable operation and accurate regulation of the output voltage. The controller is tested in different scenarios where the vehicle speed changes, thus ensuring its robustness and stability under all operating conditions. Particular attention is paid to the critical transition zone, in which the receiver coil is placed between two transmitter coils in order to achieve minimal magnetic coupling. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed controller offers a fast dynamic response (~0.07 s) and stable voltage tracking, even in the event of significant variations in mutual inductance and different EV movement speeds. These results confirm the effectiveness of the control approach and its potential for real-time charging of electric vehicles in large-scale DWPT applications. Full article

In the vector control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), non-periodic disturbances such as cross-coupling between axes and variations in electrical parameters, along with periodic harmonic disturbances caused by inverter nonlinearities and magnetic field harmonics, influence the dq-axis currents. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a current loop disturbance rejection strategy based on a Resonant Control Periodic Disturbance Observer (RC-PDOB). First, this paper constructs a disturbance observer-based current loop decoupling model that mitigates dq-axis current coupling due to parameter variations and reduces the impact of non-periodic disturbances. Then this paper introduces proportional–resonant terms into the disturbance observer to suppress the 6th and 12th harmonics of the dq-axis, thereby reducing periodic current disturbances. This paper analyzes the disturbance rejection mechanism of RC-PDOB in detail and presents the design methodology and stability criteria of the proposed observer. Finally, experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Full article

Magnetic components serve as critical energy conversion elements in power conversion systems, with their performance directly determining overall system efficiency and long-term operational reliability. The development of accurate core loss frameworks and multi-objective optimization strategies has emerged as a pivotal technical bottleneck in power electronics research. This study develops an integrated framework combining physics-informed modeling and multi-objective optimization. Key findings include the following: (1) a square-root temperature correction model (exponent = 0.5) derived via nonlinear least squares outperforms six alternatives for Steinmetz equation enhancement; (2) a hybrid Bi-LSTM-Bayes-ISE model achieves industry-leading predictive accuracy (R2 = 96.22%) through Bayesian hyperparameter optimization; and (3) coupled with NSGA-II, the framework optimizes core loss minimization and magnetic energy transmission, yielding Pareto-optimal solutions. Eight decision-making strategies are compared to refine trade-offs, while a crow search algorithm (CSA) improves NSGA-II’s initial population diversity. UFM, as the optimal decision strategy, achieves minimal core loss (659,555 W/m3) and maximal energy transmission (41,201.9 T·Hz) under 90 °C, 489.7 kHz, and 0.0841 T conditions. Experimental results validate the approach’s superiority in balancing performance and multi-objective efficiency under thermal variations. Full article

Magnetic interference compensation is critical for enhancing the accuracy of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) magnetic anomaly detection. To address the constrained compensation performance of the conventional Tolles-Lawson (T-L) model, which stems from insufficient parametric dimensionality, this study proposes a dynamic-enhanced extended compensation model. The novelly introduced attitude angle and attitude angular rate-coupled features expand the parameter set from 18 to 34 terms, significantly enhancing the characterization of the magnetic field. To overcome the limitations of linear regression in modeling the nonlinear relationships inherent in small aeromagnetic datasets, we developed a genetic algorithm-optimized shallow backpropagation neural network (GA-BP). This network establishes high-precision correlations between the extended parameters and magnetic interference noise. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed model effectively captured the coupling characteristics between dynamic flight attitudes and the interference field, leading to significant gains in key performance metrics. This approach provides novel optimization pathways for anti-interference capabilities in airborne detection systems, offering substantial practical value for enhancing UAV aeromagnetic surveys. Magnetorheological (MR) foams represent a class of smart materials with unique tunable viscoelastic properties when subjected to external magnetic fields. Combining porous structures with embedded magnetic particles, these materials address challenges such as leakage and sedimentation, typically encountered in conventional MR fluids while offering advantages like lightweight design, acoustic absorption, high energy harvesting capability, and tailored mechanical responses. Despite their potential, challenges such as non-uniform particle dispersion, limited durability under cyclic loads, and suboptimal magneto-mechanical coupling continue to hinder their broader adoption. This review systematically addresses these issues by evaluating the synthesis methods (ex situ vs. in situ), microstructural design strategies, and the role of magnetic particle alignment under varying curing conditions. Special attention is given to the influence of material composition—including matrix types, magnetic fillers, and additives—on the mechanical and magnetorheological behaviors. While the primary focus of this review is on MR foams, relevant studies on MR elastomers, which share fundamental principles, are also considered to provide a broader context. Recent advancements are also discussed, including the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) to predict the rheological and magneto-mechanical behavior of MR materials, model complex device responses, and optimize material composition and processing conditions. AI applications in MR systems range from estimating shear stress, viscosity, and storage/loss moduli to analyzing nonlinear hysteresis, magnetostriction, and mixed-mode loading behavior. These data-driven approaches offer powerful new capabilities for material design and performance optimization, helping overcome long-standing limitations in conventional modeling techniques. Despite significant progress in MR foams, several challenges remain to be addressed, including achieving uniform particle dispersion, enhancing viscoelastic performance (storage modulus and MR effect), and improving durability under cyclic loading. Addressing these issues is essential for unlocking the full potential of MR foams in demanding applications where consistent performance, mechanical reliability, and long-term stability are crucial for safety, effectiveness, and operational longevity. By bridging experimental methods, theoretical modeling, and AI-driven design, this work identifies pathways toward enhancing the functionality and reliability of MR foams for applications in vibration damping, energy harvesting, biomedical devices, and soft robotics.
