Hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV) optimizes gas exchange but, when impaired, can result in life-threatening hypoxemia. Moreover, under conditions of generalized alveolar hypoxia, HPV can result in pulmonary hypertension. Voltage-gated K+ channels (Kv channels) are key to HPV: a change in the intracellular hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) levels during acute hypoxia is assumed to modulate these channels’ activity to trigger HPV. However, there are longstanding conflicting findings on whether H2O2 inhibits or activates Kv channels. Therefore, we hypothesized that H2O2 affects Kv channels depending on the experimental conditions, i.e., the H2O2 concentration, the channel’s subunit configuration or the experimental clamping potential in electrophysiological recordings. Therefore, cRNAs encoding the Kv1.5 channel and the auxiliary Kvβ subunits (Kvβ1.1, Kvβ1.4) were generated via in vitro transcription before being injected into Xenopus laevis oocytes for heterologous expression. The K+ currents of homomeric (Kv1.5) or heteromeric (Kv1.5/Kvβ1.1 or Kv1.5/Kvβ1.4) channels were assessed by two-electrode voltage clamp. The response of the Kv channels to H2O2 was markedly dependent on (a) the clamping potential, (b) the H2O2 concentration, and (c) the Kv channel’s subunit composition. In conclusion, our data highlight the importance of the choice of experimental conditions when assessing the H2O2 sensitivity of Kv channels in the context of HPV, thus providing an explanation for the long-lasting controversial findings reported in the literature. Remanufacturing in reverse logistics can not only support sustainable development but also provide a tractable way to achieve carbon neutrality. This study evaluates whether an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) should remanufacture outsource or authorize this reverse channel activity in the presence of government subsidies. Additionally, the model considers the equilibrium acquisition quantities, collection rates, prices, and effects of government subsidy under three reverse channel options: centralizing remanufacturing, outsourcing remanufacturing, and authorization remanufacturing. The analysis indicates that (i) a centralized approach with manufacturing and remanufacturing operations under a fixed government subsidy is always in the interest of the supply chain; (ii) that for the profit-maximizing third-party remanufacturer (3PR), the differentials in variable collection costs drive the strategy choice, and that a higher fixed scaling parameter of the collection cost favors outsourcing; and (iii) when the government aspires to reduce environmental effects and subsidy payments, the OEM and government have different reverse channel choice preferences. Surprisingly, profitability and environmental goals align under a high consumer acceptance of the remanufactured product. This paper extends the understanding of the remanufacturing strategy of an OEM and provides new insights on which reverse channel is optimal. Full article

With rising environmental awareness, numerous firms are transitioning to green investment, such as low-carbon production. However, the consumer adoption of low-carbon products remains low due to transparency concerns. Many firms are leveraging blockchain to address information asymmetry in the supply chain, thereby building consumer confidence in low-carbon products. The purpose of this work is to provide decision support for business firms by analyzing the strategic choices regarding the manufacturer’s green investment and the e-retailer’s adoption of blockchain technology. Three strategy combinations are considered, including the baseline strategy combination without green investment and blockchain technology (NN), the strategy combination with only green investment (LN), and the strategy combination with both green investment and blockchain technology (LB). The optimal pricing and green level decisions are derived, and the conditions under which green investment and blockchain technology are beneficial to the supply chain members are examined. The findings suggest that the e-retailer can obtain the highest profit without adopting blockchain technology if it holds a substantial or extremely low market share, if the consumers’ low-carbon preference is at a low to medium level, or if the consumer green trust coefficient is high when the manufacturer implements the green investment strategy. When consumers exhibit a weak preference for low-carbon products, the strategy combination NN is optimal for the supply chain members. The strategy combination LB becomes optimal if the consumer green trust coefficient is near or below the moderate threshold, if the market share of a channel is neither extremely high nor low, or if consumers exhibit a strong preference for low-carbon products. Climate change risk has significant impacts on corporate financial activities. Using firm-level data from A-share listed companies in China from 2010 to 2022, we examine how climate risk affects corporate debt financing capacity. We find that climate change risk significantly weakens firms’ ability to raise debt, leading to lower leverage and higher financing costs. These results remain robust across various checks for endogeneity and alternative specifications. We also show that reducing corporate carbon emission intensity can mitigate the negative impact of climate risk on debt financing, suggesting that supply-side credit policies are more effective than demand-side capital structure choices. Furthermore, we identify three channels through which climate risk impairs debt capacity: reduced competitiveness, increased default risk, and diminished resilience. Our heterogeneity analysis reveals that these adverse effects are more pronounced for non-state-owned firms, firms with weaker internal controls, and companies in highly financialized regions, and during periods of heightened environmental uncertainty. We also apply textual analysis and machine learning to the measurement of climate change risks, partially mitigating the geographic biases and single-dimensional shortcomings inherent in macro-level indicators, thus enriching the quantitative research on climate change risks. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and financial institutions in promoting corporate green transition, guiding capital allocation, and supporting sustainable development. This study takes the dual-channel fresh product supply chain involving the participation of third-party logistics (3PL) as the background to explore how 3PL makes choices between homogeneous and differentiated logistics service strategies and how the supply chain formulates optimal decisions under different logistics service strategies to achieve maximum benefits. This paper constructs a sequential game model of the three-tier supply chain composed of 3PL, a supplier, and a retailer; uses the consumer utility function to describe market demand; and considers different logistics service strategies adopted by 3PL. It compares and analyzes the equilibrium strategies under the traditional retail channel (O Model), the homogeneous cold-chain service dual-channel model (D1 Model), and the differentiated cold-chain service dual-channel model (D2 Model). The results show the following: (1) The D1 Model reduces the transportation cost of the supply chain through economies of scale. Under the D2 Model, the transportation and sales prices of the offline channels are higher than those of the online channels, while the online marketing effort is higher than that of the offline channels. (2) The profits generated by the dual-channel models (D1 Model and D2 Model) are both higher than those of O Model. In most cases, the D1 Model generates the highest system profit. However, in scenarios where consumers are highly sensitive to freshness and marketing efforts, the system profit of the D2 Model is higher than that of the D1 Model. (3) The supply chain has lower pricing and effort input when consumers are more sensitive to prices and higher pricing and effort input when consumers are more sensitive to freshness. These findings contribute valuable insights to the field of supply chain management, particularly in the context of fresh product supply chains involving 3PL. They underscore the importance of considering consumer behavior and logistics service strategies in optimizing supply chain performance and highlight the potential trade-offs between standardization and differentiation in logistics services. Agricultural green production (AGP) is a key strategy for ensuring stable and sustainable grain production in developing countries. However, from the perspective of technology acquisition, research on farmers’ willingness to adopt AGP remains limited. Based on this, a survey was conducted on 862 households in major grain-producing counties in the Huang Huai Hai Plain of China with a reliable and effective response rate of 97.44%. The aim was to employ Probit and mediation models to empirically analyze the direct impacts of green perception benefits and environmental regulation intensity on farmers’ AGP willingness, and further examine the intrinsic mechanisms of technology acquisition. The results demonstrated that both green perception benefits and environmental regulation intensity significantly enhanced farmers’ willingness to engage in AGP, with green perception benefits having a greater influence. Among the two-dimensional variables, economic benefits had a stronger promoting effect than identity benefits, with a difference of 0.044 units, while subjective regulation intensity outperformed objective regulation intensity by 0.173 units. This suggested the need to strengthen the subjective impact of AGP policies in practice. Further analysis revealed that technology acquisition mediated 5.87% of the effect of green perception benefits on farmers’ AGP willingness, with acquisition evaluation having the greatest mediating effect, followed by acquisition quality and acquisition channels. However, although the overall environmental regulation intensity did not significantly impact farmers’ willingness to engage in AGP, its two-dimensional indicators played a mediating role to varying degrees. The findings in this study provide valuable empirical evidence for promoting AGP among grain producers, contributing to grain production security and the sustainable development of developing countries. Thus, implementing environmental regulatory policies tailored to local conditions, enhancing farmers’ economic awareness and sense of responsibility, and expanding farmers’ channels for technology acquisition are reasonable policy choices. Digital control in UPS systems is currently the only reasonable way of controlling a voltage source inverter (VSI). The control frequency range is restricted to up to about 1 kHz owing to the output low-pass LC filter, which should also maintain the output voltage during one switching period for the step unload. The measurement channels in the low-pass frequency range can be modeled as delays equal to some switching periods. A reasonably high (about 50 kHz) switching frequency minimizes the delays of the measurement channels. Two control systems will be compared—the pure discrete control, in this case a one-sample-ahead preview deadbeat control (OSAP), and a discretized passivity-based control (PBC). The OSAP control is easy to realize, is very fast, and enables one to obtain a steady state in a restricted number of steps after disturbance. However, the single-input single-output deadbeat control version is useless because it depends very strongly on the parameters of the inverter. The multi-input single-output OSAP (MISO-OSAP) control is directly based on discrete state equations (we treat the output voltage, output current, and inductor current as the measured state variables) and works perfectly for the nonlinear rectifier RC load (PF = 0.7) in a system without delay. The version of this with a linear prediction of state variables by means of a full-order state Luenberger observer (MISO-OSAP-LO) will be used in systems with different delays and compared with the discretized MISO passivity-based control without prediction for relatively high switching frequency (about 50 kHz). The aim and the novelty of the paper are in enabling a choice between one of these control systems for high switching frequency VSI with delays in the measurement channels. Full article

This paper proposes a tree-based regression model for hybrid channel estimation in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) over both visible light communication (VLC) and radio frequency (RF) links. The hybrid channel incorporates both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh fading to mimic realistic environments. Traditional estimators, such as MMSE and LMMSE, often underperform in such heterogeneous and nonlinear conditions due to their analytical rigidity. To overcome these limitations, we introduce a data-driven approach using a decision tree regressor trained on 18,000 signal samples across 36 SNR levels. Simulation results show that support vector machine (SVM) achieved 91.34% accuracy and a BER of 0.0866 at 10 dB, as well as 96.77% accuracy with a BER of 0.0323 at 30 dB. Random forest achieved 91.01% accuracy and a BER of 0.0899 at 10 dB, as well as 97.88% accuracy with a BER of 0.0212 at 30 dB. The proposed tree model attained 90.83% and 97.63% accuracy with BERs of 0.0917 and 0.0237, respectively, at the corresponding SNR values. The distinguishing advantage of the tree model lies in its inference efficiency. It completes predictions on the test dataset in just 45.53 s, making it over three times faster than random forest (140.09 s) and more than four times faster than SVM (189.35 s). This significant reduction in inference time makes the proposed tree model particularly well suited for real-time and resource-constrained WSN scenarios, where fast and efficient estimation is often more critical than marginal gains in accuracy. The results also highlight a trade-off, where the tree model provides sub-optimal predictive performance while significantly reducing computational overhead, making it an attractive choice for low-power and latency-sensitive wireless systems. In the evolving digital marketplace, consumer behaviour is increasingly shaped by green marketing strategies, particularly in the context of sustainable consumption. This study aims to examine the mechanisms through which green content marketing and green affiliate marketing influence green variety-seeking shopping behaviours, with particular attention to the role of green shopping motives and the effectiveness of marketing strategies. As traditional retail methods face limitations, digital marketing channels provide new avenues to engage consumers through personalized and dynamic content. Using the Theory–Context–Characteristics–Methodology (TCCM) framework, this research systematically examines the existing literature to identify key theories, contexts, characteristics, and methodologies relevant to variety-seeking behaviours towards green products. The study explores the psychological and behavioural drivers behind shopping choices, offering insights into why consumers exhibit variety-seeking behaviour when purchasing green products. The results indicate that effective green content and affiliate marketing drive variety-seeking behaviour in green shopping, with consumer motives serving as a key mediating factor. The conceptual model developed in this study provides a structured understanding of how modern marketing strategies shape consumer preferences and engagement with green products. This study offers a future research agenda and practical implications for marketers and retailers. By understanding these influences, businesses can refine their marketing strategies to strengthen green shopping motives, encourage sustainable consumption over traditional consumption, and adapt to the dynamic retail landscape. Against the backdrop of China’s “public-to-railway” freight policy that has led to railway yard congestion and imbalanced modal capacity utilization, this study develops a Dual-Channel Cargo-Transportation Service (DCTS) system model using queuing theory to optimize freight flow allocation and pricing strategies. Integrating the behavioral decisions of governments, carriers, and cargo owners, the research employs M/M/1 queuing models and the Logit choice framework to analyze the dynamic equilibrium between goods waiting times and carrier profits, exploring objectives of minimizing system-average waiting time and maximizing carrier profits. Key findings show that regulating highway pricing can effectively divert freight flows to reduce railway congestion and improve system efficiency, with optimal pricing intervals for highways identified based on service capacity to balance congestion relief and profitability. The model quantifies the trade-off between transportation costs and waiting times to guide cargo owners’ mode choices, and numerical simulations validate that strategic highway price adjustments alleviate bottlenecks and enhance modal synergy. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the government to formulate freight-transportation policies and optimize freight flow allocation. At the same time, it also provides a practical, theoretical basis and methodological reference for carrier pricing decisions, as well as for solving the problem of freight flow congestion and optimizing the pricing of transportation services. Rainfall-based methods have been employed for computing hydrographs in urban drainage systems. However, their implementation often introduces uncertainty in various aspects, such as the selection of a unit hydrograph, the choice of abstraction methods, and the formulas used to calculate the time of concentration, among others. Conventional consultancy studies tend to oversimplify catchment representation by treating it as a homogeneous unit or discretizing it into a few segments with simplified flood routing. This research proposes a streamlined methodology for computing hydrographs, considering the sub-basins’ heterogeneity. The methodology is based on the principles of proportionality and superposition. A sensitivity analysis of the proposed methodology is conducted, considering both homogeneous and heterogeneous catchments and the temporal distribution of rainfall. The proposed methodology is applied to the catchment of the Ricaurte channel, located in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), with a watershed area of 728.8 ha. It has proven effective in representing a recorded simultaneous rainfall-runoff event, achieving a Root Mean Square Error of 3.93% in estimating the total volume of the measured hydrographs. A key advantage of the methodology, compared to traditional rainfall–runoff approaches, is that it does not require an extensive number of parameters to be calibrated. It may be utilized to estimate extreme flood events in urban areas with limited data availability, relying on minimal data inputs. Full article

Hypertension disorders of pregnancy affect almost 10% of pregnancies. Most hypertensive disorders associated with pregnancy, including chronic hypertension and gestational hypertension, often persist into the postpartum period. Thus, many breastfeeding mothers require ongoing antihypertensive treatment with antihypertensive medications while nursing. This highlights the importance of understanding the efficacy, safety, and potential adverse effects of antihypertensive therapy in breastfeeding mothers. Unfortunately, research in this area is limited, and references in clinical guidelines remain sparse. Our review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of the current knowledge on antihypertensive medications during breastfeeding, drawing from available research and evidence-based guidelines. This article discusses all groups of antihypertensive drugs, presenting societies’ recommendations and available clinical data. Based on the available literature, calcium channel blockers (extended-release nifedipine as the first choice) and beta-blockers (labetalol, metoprolol) appear to be the drugs of choice. Our review highlights the need for further research to evaluate the long-term safety of antihypertensive medications during breastfeeding, improve clinical guidelines, and ensure optimal treatment for nursing mothers. Evolution and Simulation Analysis of Digital Transformation in Rural Elderly Care Services from a Multi-Agent Perspective in China

Amid accelerating population aging and the rapid evolution of digital technologies, the digital transformation of rural elderly care services has become a pivotal strategy for restructuring the rural elderly care system. This study identified the local government, rural elderly care service centers, and the elderly population as the principal stakeholders, and developed a tripartite evolutionary game-theory model to examine the dynamic strategic interactions among these actors under the influence of digital technologies. The model further investigated the evolutionary trajectories and equilibrium conditions of their behavioral strategies. Numerical simulations conducted via MATLAB were employed to validate and visualize the model outcomes. The findings revealed the following. (1) The evolutionary equilibrium of digital elderly care service development in rural areas is jointly determined by the strategic choices of the three parties, with its stability shaped by a complex interplay of cost structures, incentive mechanisms, and utility outcomes. (2) Cost factors exhibit heterogeneous effects across stakeholders. Specifically, excessive regulatory costs diminish the performance incentives of local governments, digital infrastructure and operational expenditures influence service centers’ capacity for precision-oriented service delivery, and the participation of the elderly is constrained by affordability thresholds. (3) Local government behavior demonstrates a pronounced sensitivity to incentives. In particular, rewards and social reputation conferred by higher-level governmental bodies exert a significantly stronger influence than punitive measures. (4) Government subsidies for digital transformation enhance cross-stakeholder synergy through dual transmission channels. Nonetheless, excessive subsidies may escalate fiscal risk, while moderately calibrated penalty mechanisms effectively curb moral hazard within service centers. This study advances theoretical understanding of multi-stakeholder coordination in the context of digitally enabled rural elderly care and provides actionable insights for policymakers aiming to formulate interest-aligned strategies and construct resilient, intelligent governance systems for elderly care. With the rise of omnichannel (OC) retailing in food e-retail, understanding how OC retailing and product quality attributes influence consumer purchasing behaviour and value perceptions is crucial for developing e-retail strategies and enhancing consumer services. This study examined their impacts on Chinese consumers’ purchases of Australian beef (brisket) through a discrete choice experiment in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen and analysed 872 valid responses using multinomial logit, random parameter logit, and latent class models. Our findings reveal that Chinese consumers prefer buying Australian brisket via OC apps and offline stores, paying approx. 44% and 134% more per 500 g, respectively, compared to self-operated e-commerce stores. Brand, manufacturer and origin traceability are key quality attributes, with additional paid for brisket manufactured and packaged in Australia (under Australian brands) and featuring the MLA “True Aussie Beef” label over QR codes. This study also identified four distinct consumer clusters: (i) premium shoppers, (ii) channel and traceability-oriented shoppers, (iii) omnichannel and price-oriented shoppers and (iv) tech-savvy and discerning shoppers, highlighting varying sensitivities to e-retail channels and product attributes. These findings offer strategic and actionable insights for Australian beef exporters and OC retailers seeking to optimise consumer engagement and value creation in China’s evolving e-retail landscape. When it comes to wine communication, winery names can serve as multidimensional communication mechanisms. Their various aspects of communication concern the historical context, tourism geography, socio-economic tourism development, wine knowledge, and even gastronomy. On this basis, a whole communication strategy could be developed, which could lead to progressive interaction and networking with consumers. Quality needs to be fully and properly communicated through multiple channels. This paper aims to reveal the importance of the way in which wine producers in Northern Greece construct their brand identity through strategic naming choices—such as Estate, Ktima, Château, or the producer’s family name—as opposed to more neutral or descriptive labels. The findings suggest that winery names contribute significantly to consumer perception, place branding, and the development of wine tourism. The choice of a winery name influences regional identity, strengthens the connection with local traditions, and enhances the commercial success and tourism appeal of the region. Full article
