Changes in Retinal Nerve Fiber and Ganglion Cell Layers After Chemical Injury: A Prospective Study

Background: Chemical eye burns are a serious ophthalmic emergency that can lead to permanent vision loss in severe cases. This study aims to evaluate structural changes in the posterior segment of the eye in individuals who have experienced chemical burns. Methods: The study included 64 eyes from 54 patients with chemical burns (chemical burn group) and 87 healthy eyes from 87 subjects (control group), matched by age and sex. Patients had confirmed burns with limbal ischemia, no glaucoma, normal intraocular pressure, and no major ocular or systemic diseases. Burned eyes were examined during the acute phase and again at 3 months, with some followed up at 6 months if significant retinal asymmetry was detected. Retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness was assessed in four quadrants, and ganglion cell complex (GCL++) thickness was analyzed using automated segmentation of optical coherence tomography (OCT) maps. Results: This study compared measurements between the burn group, the control group, and timepoints. OCT analysis revealed no significant difference in total RNFL thickness between burn patients and controls (mean difference: −1.14 µm, 95% CI: −3.92 to 1.64). Similarly, GCL++ thickness did not differ significantly between groups (mean difference: −0.97 µm, 95% CI: −3.31 to 1.37). At 6-month follow-up, a non-significant decline in both RNFL and GCL++ thicknesses was observed. Logistic regression identified higher Dua grade as an independent predictor of RNFL thinning (OR: 4.816, 95% CI: 1.103–21.030; p = 0.037). Patients with severe ocular chemical burns (Dua grade ≥ 3) demonstrated reduced RNFL thickness in all quadrants compared to healthy controls. The most pronounced reductions were observed in the nasal and superior quadrants (p = 0.007 and p = 0.069, respectively); however, after applying Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons, only the difference in the nasal quadrant remained statistically significant (adjusted p = 0.035). Conclusions: Although overall RNFL and GCL++ thicknesses did not differ significantly between burn patients and healthy controls, patients with severe ocular chemical burns (Dua grade ≥ 3) showed a significant reduction in RNFL thickness, in the nasal quadrant. Higher Dua grade was identified as an independent predictor of RNFL thinning. These findings suggest a potential association between burn severity and posterior segment changes, highlighting the need for further longitudinal studies with larger cohorts. Full article

This cross-sectional study aims to identify clusters of internalizing and externalizing traits during adolescence using a bottom-up approach. The second aim is to investigate whether the different clusters differ by environmental risk factors and specific epigenetic profiles. A total of 205 adolescents, who had been referred for psychopathology in childhood, were recruited. Behavioral problems were assessed using the Child Behavior Checklist/6–18 (CBCL). Different clusters of psychopathological profiles were analyzed using a Finite mixture model. Differences in environmental risk factors and epigenetic profiles were tested with χ2-tests and Bonferroni-corrected t-tests. Two clusters were identified: a LOW cluster (51% of the sample), characterized by the presence of subclinical mean scores in both internalizing and externalizing problems, and a HIGH cluster (49% of the sample), characterized by high mean scores in both domains. The HIGH cluster had a significantly greater number of perinatal complications and changes in methylation of specific CpG sites of Brain-derived neurotrophic factor, Insulin-like growth factor-2, and Oxytocin receptor, whereas no difference was found for FK506-binding protein 5. Our results confirm the existence of a strong association between early adverse events, DNA methylation, and the presence of behavioral problems and psychopathological traits in adolescence. (1) Background: Physical inactivity is a major public health concern in modern society. Group fitness programs are widely used to promote physical activity, combining choreographed movements with various dance steps and music. This study aimed to examine the effects of Zumba and MoFit group fitness programs on body composition parameters in women. (2) Methods: The study included 98 female participants (Mean age = 27.8 ± 2.9 years), divided into three groups: E1 (n = 33), which followed the experimental Zumba program; E2 (n = 31), which followed the experimental MoFit program; and a control group (n = 34), which continued with their usual daily activities for 10 weeks. Body composition was assessed using 14 variables measured with the InBody 270 analyser. Statistical analyses included paired t-tests, MANCOVA, and ANCOVA. (3) Results: The findings confirmed the positive effects of both group fitness programs on most body composition parameters in women (p < 0.001). However, Bonferroni post hoc test results indicated that the Zumba program led to significantly greater improvements in most body composition variables compared to the MoFit program. (4) Conclusions: Both Zumba and MoFit programs were effective in reducing body fat, increasing muscle mass, total body water, and mineral content, whereas the control group did not achieve positive changes. Background/Objectives: Cochlear “injury” is thought to be a significant cause of tinnitus in patients with hearing loss. Interestingly, individuals with normal hearing may also experience tinnitus. This study evaluates otoacoustic distortion product emissions (DPOAEs) in individuals with normal hearing who experience tinnitus perception. Methods: In this prospective study, the tinnitus group (TG) consisted of 34 subjects with tinnitus (four unilaterally) and normal hearing (threshold ≤ 25 dBHL at 0.25–8 kHz). The control group (CG) comprised 10 healthy volunteers (20 ears) without tinnitus and normal hearing. Medical history was recorded, and all participants underwent a complete otolaryngological examination, pure tone audiometry, and DPOAE recording (DP-gram, L1 = 55 dB, L2 = 65 dB, for F2: 619–10,000 Hz). Moreover, participants in the TG completed a detailed tinnitus history (with self-rated loudness scoring) and the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (Greek-version THI-G) and underwent tinnitus analysis. Results: The recorded mean DPOAE values during the DP-gram of the CG were significantly larger in amplitude at low (t-test, Bonferroni-corrected p < 0.09) and high frequencies (t-test, Bonferroni-corrected p < 0.02) compared with the TG. Tinnitus assessment showed tinnitus pitch matching at the frequency area in the DP-gram, where the acceptance recording criteria were not met. There were no statistically significant differences in tinnitus onset, self-rated loudness scores of >70, and severe disability (THI-G > 58) for TG subjects in whom DPOAEs were not recorded at frequencies of ≤1000 Hz. Participants with abnormal DPOAEs at around 4000 Hz had tinnitus of sudden onset and severe disability (THI-G > 58). Finally, those with pathological recordings of DPOAEs at ≥6000 Hz had gradual onset tinnitus (Pearson Chi-square test, p < 0.05). Conclusions: DPOAEs in normal hearing individuals with tinnitus show lower amplitudes in low and high frequencies compared with normal hearing individuals without tinnitus. The tinnitus matched-frequency coincided with the frequency area where DPOAEs were abnormal. Full article

The aim of translucency-enhancing liquids (TEL) is to locally influence the phase composition of zirconia in order to increase its translucency. This study aimed to determine the influence of TEL on 3Y- and 4Y-TZP zirconia concerning roughness, hardness, wear, flexural strength, dynamic stability and fracture force of fixed dental prostheses after thermal cycling and mechanical loading. Two zirconia materials (4Y-TZP; 3Y-TZP-LA, n = 8 per material and test) were investigated with and without prior application of TEL. Two-body wear tests were performed in a pneumatic pin-on-block design (50 N, 120,000 cycles, 1.6 Hz) with steatite balls (r = 1.5 mm) as antagonists. Mean and maximum vertical loss as well as roughness (Ra, Rz) were measured with a 3D laser-scanning microscope (KJ 3D, Keyence, J). Antagonist wear was determined as percent area of the projected antagonist area. Martens hardness (HM; ISO 14577-1) and biaxial flexural strength (BFS; ISO 6872) were investigated. The flexural fatigue limit BFSdyn was determined under cyclic loading in a staircase approach with a piston-on-three-ball-test. Thermal cycling and mechanical loading (TCML: 2 × 3000 × 5 °C/55 °C, 2 min/cycle, H2O dist., 1.2 × 106 force á 50 N) was performed on four-unit fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) (n = 8 per group) and the fracture force after TCML was determined. Statistics: ANOVA, Bonferroni test, Kaplan–Meier survival, Pearson correlation; α = 0.05. TEL application significantly influences roughness, hardness, biaxial flexural strength, dynamic performance, as well as fracture force after TCML in 3Y-TZP. For 4Y-TZP, a distinct influence of TEL was only identified for BFS. The application of TEL on 3Y- or 4Y-TZP did not affect wear. TEL application has a strong effect on the mechanical properties of 3Y-TZP and minor effects on 4Y-TZP. All effects of the TEL application are of a magnitude that is unlikely to restrict clinical application. Full article

Image-assisted digital shade guides are increasingly popular for shade matching; however, research on their accuracy remains limited. This study aimed to compare the accuracy and reliability of color coordination in image-assisted digital shade guides constructed using calibrated images of their shade tabs captured by a mirrorless camera (Canon, Tokyo, Japan) (MC-DSG) and a smartphone camera (Samsung, Seoul, Korea) (SC-DSG), using a spectrophotometer as the reference standard. Twenty-nine VITA Linearguide 3D-Master shade tabs were photographed under controlled settings with both cameras equipped with cross-polarizing filters. Images were calibrated using Adobe Photoshop (Adobe Inc., San Jose, CA, USA). The L* (lightness), a* (red-green chromaticity), and b* (yellow-blue chromaticity) values, which represent the color attributes in the CIELAB color space, were computed at the middle third of each shade tab using Adobe Photoshop. Specifically, L* indicates the brightness of a color (ranging from black [0] to white [100]), a* denotes the position between red (+a*) and green (–a*), and b* represents the position between yellow (+b*) and blue (–b*). These values were used to quantify tooth shade and compare them to reference measurements obtained from a spectrophotometer (VITA Easyshade V, VITA Zahnfabrik, Bad Säckingen, Germany). Mean color differences (∆E00) between MC-DSG and SC-DSG, relative to the spectrophotometer, were compared using a independent t-test. The ∆E00 values were also evaluated against perceptibility (PT = 0.8) and acceptability (AT = 1.8) thresholds. Reliability was evaluated using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), and group differences were analyzed via one-way ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc tests (α = 0.05). SC-DSG showed significantly lower ΔE00 deviations than MC-DSG (p < 0.001), falling within acceptable clinical AT. The L* values from MC-DSG were significantly higher than SC-DSG (p = 0.024). All methods showed excellent reliability (ICC > 0.9). The findings support the potential of smartphone image-assisted digital shade guides for accurate and reliable tooth shade assessment. This in vitro study aims to compare the trueness of digital impressions obtained using two intraoral scanners (IOS) and one photogrammetry device for full-arch implant-supported rehabilitations. According to the Caramês Classification I, three models were produced with Straumann implants arranged in different spatial distributions: Option A with six implants and Options B and C with four implants each. The three models were scanned using a 12-megapixel scanner to create digital master casts. For each reference model, 30 digital impressions were acquired: 10 with the 3Shape Trios 3 intraoral scanner, 10 with the Medit i500 intraoral scanner, and 10 with the PIC Dental photogrammetry device. Trueness was assessed through best-fit superimpositions between the digital master casts and the corresponding virtual models. The Shapiro–Wilk test was applied to assess the normality of the data distribution, and Levene’s test was used to evaluate the homogeneity of variances. The non-parametric Kruskal–Wallis test was employed to compare group differences, with post hoc adjustments made using the Bonferroni correction. A significance threshold of p = 0.05 was adopted for all statistical tests. Statistically significant differences were observed in the root mean square values among the three devices. The Medit i500 demonstrated the highest trueness, with a median (interquartile range) deviation of 24.45 (18.18) µm, whereas the PIC Dental exhibited the lowest trueness, with a median deviation of 49.45 (9.17) µm. Among the implant distribution, the Option C showed the best trueness, with a median deviation of 19.00 (27.83). Considering the results of this in vitro study, intraoral scanners demonstrated comparable trueness, whereas the photogrammetry-based system exhibited lower trueness values. Additionally, a smaller number of implants and reduced inter-implant distances were associated with improved trueness in digital impressions for full-arch implant rehabilitation. Full article

The development of technology has influenced agricultural production and the establishment of the Agriculture 4.0 system in practice. This research is focused on the selection of equipment and machinery suppliers for the needs of the MAMEX Company. When selecting suppliers, an approach based on the application of an intuitionistic fuzzy set for decision-making was used. This approach allows the uncertainty present in decision-making to be incorporated, considered, and, hopefully, reduced in order to make a final decision on which of the observed suppliers is the most suitable for this company. Ten criteria were used that enable the application of sustainability in the supply chain. Eight local suppliers of equipment and machinery were observed with these criteria. The results obtained by applying the SWARA (Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis) method showed that the most important criterion for selecting suppliers is the reliability and quality of equipment and machinery, while the results of the CORASO (COmpromise Ranking from Alternative Solutions) method showed that the SUP2 supplier is the best choice for establishing partnership relations with the MAMEX company. This supplier should help the MAMEX company improve its business and achieve better results in the market. The contribution of this research is to improve the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets in decision-making, and to emphasize the importance of equipment and machinery in agricultural production in the Agriculture 4.0 system. Background/Objectives: In the context of facial surgery, particularly reconstructive procedures, sensory recovery is a critical yet often underexplored aspect of functional rehabilitation. Sensory-motor recovery can be considered a key marker of integration following reconstructive surgery. Among sensory modalities, discriminative sensitivity is typically the last to recover, making its evaluation particularly relevant. While established norms for hand sensitivity exist in the literature, there is a paucity of data regarding facial sensitivity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the discriminative sensitivity of the face in a population of healthy women aged 45–60 years. Methods: A total of 20 healthy women were included between January and March 2013. Participants had no history of facial pathologies or trauma. Discriminative sensitivity was measured using the Disk-Criminator™ device across eight facial zones. A detailed mapping of the tested areas was performed. Data obtained were compared with the existing literature. Statistical analyses included Shapiro–Wilk tests for normality, followed by Student’s t-tests for group comparisons. To account for small sample size and verify robustness, non-parametric Mann–Whitney U tests were also performed. Adjustment for multiple comparisons was applied using the Bonferroni correction (adjusted α = 0.0125). Results: The mean age of participants was 52.3 years (±4.0 years). Discrimination threshold values ranged from 2.9 to 14.3 mm. Comparison with existing studies showed no significant age-related differences in zone 2R (cheek) and zone 8 (lower lip), suggesting stable sensitivity in these regions across adulthood. However, a significant decline in sensitivity with age was observed only in zone 1R (forehead), with a p-value < 0.001 after Bonferroni correction. Conclusions: We established a reference framework for cutaneous discriminative sensitivity across eight facial zones. These norms can serve as a baseline for the assessment and monitoring of patients with facial pathologies. Furthermore, our findings contribute to a better understanding of age-related sensory changes. Full article

Background/Objectives: Unilateral hearing loss (UHL), particularly single-sided deafness (SSD), disrupts spatial hearing in children, leading to academic and social challenges. This study aimed to (1) compare azimuthal sound-localization accuracy and compensatory strategies between children with single-sided deafness (SSD) and their normal-hearing (NH) peers within a virtual reality environment, and (2) investigate sound-localization performance across various azimuths by contrasting left-SSD (L-SSD) and right-SSD (R-SSD) groups. Methods: A cohort of 44 participants (20 NH, 24 SSD) performed sound localization tasks in a 3D virtual environment. Unsigned azimuth error (UAE), unsigned elevation error (UEE), and head movement distance were analyzed across six azimuthal angles (−75° to 75°) at 0°elevation. Non-parametric statistics (Mann–Whitney U tests, Holm–Bonferroni correction) compared performance between NH and SSD groups and within SSD subgroups (L-SSD vs. R-SSD). Results: The SSD group exhibited significantly higher UAE (mean: 22.4° vs. 3.69°, p < 0.0001), UEE (mean: 5.95° vs. 3.77°, p < 0.0001) and head movement distance (mean: 0.35° vs. 0.12°, p < 0.0001) compared with NH peers, indicating persistent localization deficits and compensatory effort. Within the SSD group, elevation performance was superior to azimuthal accuracy (mean UEE: 3.77° vs. mean UAE: 22.4°). Participants with R-SSD exhibited greater azimuthal errors at rightward angles (45°and 75°) and at −15°, as well as increased elevation errors at 75°. Hemifield-specific advantages were strongest at extreme lateral angles (75°). Conclusions: Children with SSD rely on insufficient compensatory head movements to resolve monaural spatial ambiguity in order to localize sounds. Localization deficits and the effort associated with localization task call for action in addressing these issues in dynamic environments such as the classroom. L-SSD subjects outperformed R-SSD peers, highlighting hemispheric specialization in spatial hearing and the need to study its neural basis to develop targeted rehabilitation and classroom support. The hemifield advantages described in this study call for further data collection and research on the topic. Full article

Background/Objectives: Diagnosis of Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome Type 2 (PSPS-T2) currently lacks objective biomarkers. Therefore, this retrospective study aimed to investigate differences in glucose metabolism in the axial musculoskeletal system in PSPS-T2 patients by means of [18F]FDG PET-CT imaging. Methods: Nine PSPS-T2 patients (five females, four males; mean age of 53 ± 4.82 years) and nine age- and gender-matched healthy controls (five females, four males; mean age of 53 ± 3.91 years) were included. For each participant, 24 regions of interest (ROIs) were manually drawn, including areas of the vertebral endplates, the intervertebral discs, and the psoas muscles. For each ROI, the mean standardized uptake values (SUVs) were assessed. Group differences were evaluated using repeated measures ANOVA with Bonferroni-adjusted post-hoc pairwise comparisons. Additionally, Pearson correlation analyses examined associations between SUVmean values and the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) pain scores. Results: Results demonstrated significantly higher SUVmean values in healthy controls compared to PSPS-T2 patients, particularly at the superior endplates of L4 and S1, the intervertebral discs at L4-L5 and L5-S1, and the posterior endplates of L4 and L5. Although PSPS-T2 patients exhibited higher SUVmean values than controls in the psoas muscle, these differences were not statistically significant. Additionally, no significant correlations were found between SUVmean values and NRS pain scores, suggesting that metabolic activity alone does not directly reflect pain severity. Conclusions: Despite the limited sample size of this pilot study, the metabolic fingerprint of the axial musculoskeletal system was shown to be distinctly different in PSPS-T2 patients compared to healthy controls. This could lead to an improved understanding of PSPS-T2 pathophysiology and might open new doors for better diagnosis and treatment strategies. Full article

The Fall Risk Appraisal Matrix (FRAM) is a simple fall risk assessment tool that categorizes older adults into four separate groups based on their fear of falling (FOF) and static balance performance. Static balance for the FRAM is evaluated solely by postural sway distance, which does not account for other static balance parameters, such as sway area, anterior–posterior (AP) sway range, medial–lateral (ML) sway range, and sway velocity. The objective of this study was to compare these additional metrics across the FRAM groups to assess their relevance and validity for inclusion in static balance performance assessment. Hence, these measures were compared among the four different fall risk groups within the FRAM (203 participants; mean age = 75.0 ± 7.2 years) using Kruskal–Wallis test, followed by Dunn’s post hoc tests with Bonferroni correction. All balance metrics were significantly greater in the Incongruent (poor balance/low FOF) and Congruent (poor balance/high FOF) groups than the Rational (good balance/low FOF) group, as well as in the Congruent group than the Irrational (good balance/high FOF) group (p < 0.001). Additionally, AP sway range and sway velocity significantly differed between the Irrational and Incongruent groups (p < 0.001). The results suggest that the inclusion of these additional static balance measures, in addition to sway distance, reveals specific tendencies in static balance among different fall risk groups, which can serve as a reference for other researchers and future studies to develop more individually tailored intervention programs based on their static balance specificities. Knee rotational stability is crucial for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) procedures, yet, current clinical assessments are subjective and lack precision. This study evaluates the accuracy and repeatability of the GATOR system, developed by PreciX Pte Ltd. and integrating ultrasound with inertial measurement units (IMUs), against a reference IMU (Xsens DOTS) for measuring knee flexion and rotation in six cadaveric specimens secured in an Oxford Knee Jig. Two experiments were conducted: (A) knee flexion from 0° to 120°, and (B) internal/external rotation at 0°, 30°, 60°, 90°, and 120° flexion. Analysis using Bland–Altman plots, root mean square error (RMSE: 3.93° for internal rotation, 6.90° for external rotation), mean biases, and paired t-tests (Bonferroni corrected) revealed that GATOR recorded lower peak flexion angles (91.49–114.65°) compared to the reference (110.31–118.49°). For rotation, internal rotation showed narrower limits of agreement than external rotation (biases: 1.91–6.88°). Over 60% of trials had errors < 5°, and 80% < 10°, indicating good agreement. Despite no isolated comparison of GATOR’s ultrasound component, findings suggest reduced soft tissue artifact due to bone-referenced sensor alignment. With optimal placement (10–15 cm from the knee center), GATOR shows promise in ACL assessment and remote rehabilitation. Full article

Background/Objectives: Alginate dental impressions are often among the most anxiety-inducing procedures for pediatric patients due to discomfort caused by nausea, gagging, and the vomiting reflex. This technique frequently raises anxiety levels in children. In contrast, intraoral scanners are increasingly used in clinical practice and offer a more comfortable alternative. Physiological parameters such as heart rate (HR) and oxygen saturation (SpO2) are useful, objective indicators of anxiety. This study aimed to evaluate significant changes in HR and SpO2 during dental impression procedures using two techniques—an analog (alginate) and a digital (intraoral scanner) one—in both dental arches, to determine the method inducing the least anxiety. Methods: A non-interventional clinical study was conducted on a sample of 30 children. A fingertip pulse oximeter was used to measure HR and SpO2 during impression taking with alginate and with an intraoral scanner. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS® (Version 30.0. Amonk, NY, USA: IBM Corp). Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) were calculated, and the Friedman and Wilcoxon tests with Bonferroni correction were applied, using a 5% significance level. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Murcia. Results: Alginate impressions produced a statistically significant increase in HR in both the upper [(19 ± 11) bpm] and lower [(18 ± 9) bpm] arches compared to the scanner [(7 ± 5) bpm and (7 ± 4) bpm, respectively] (χ2 = 49.30; p < 0.001). SpO2 levels also dropped more when using alginate for both the upper and lower arches [(−2 ± 2)% and (−2 ± 3)%, respectively] than when using the scanner [(−1 ± 1)% in both arches] (χ2 = 21.41; p < 0.001). Conclusions: Alginate impressions triggered a significant anxiety response, as evidenced by significant changes in HR and SpO2. Intraoral scanners were less invasive, as indicated by the greater proximity of the physiological parameters to the baseline values, making them a promising alternative in pediatric dentistry. Background: Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) through the tensor fascia latae (TFL) is a well-known pathology among runners whose etiology is not completely clear, nor is the effectiveness of plantar insoles for different types of feet known well enough for them to be considered a possible approach for this issue. Objective: to understand how foot type and foot orthotics may influence the electromyographic (EMG) activity of the TFL. Methods: A total of 41 healthy recreational runners (mean age 32.66 ± 3.51) were recruited for the present cross-sectional study, categorizing them as neutral (NEUg = 15), supinators (SUPg = 15), and pronators (PROg = 11) according to the foot postural index, over a period of 11 months. The EMG of the TFL was measured using a surface electromyograph device while they ran on a treadmill at a constant speed of 9 km/h for 3 min, randomly using supinating (SUP), pronating (PRO), or heel lift (TAL) insoles of 5 mm each one, compared to the baseline condition (SIN). The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was performed to check the reproducibility of the tests, pairwise comparisons with Bonferroni adjustment were made, and to test the differences between measurements, the Friedman test was performed. Results: The Shapiro–Wilk test indicated a normal distribution of the sample (p > 0.05). Almost all obtained results showed a “perfect reproducibility” close to one; a significant statistical increase was observed in the mean EMG values from NEUg (87.58 ± 4.81 mV) to SUPg (97.17 ± 4.3 mV) (p < 0.05) during SIN+ basal condition. Additionally, there was a statistical reduction from SIN (87.58 ± 4.81 mV) vs. PRO (74.69 ± 3.77 mV) (p < 0.001) in NEUg and from SIN (97.17 ± 4.3 mV) vs. PRO (90.96 ± 4 mV) (p < 0.001) in SUPg. Conclusions: The SUPg exhibited increased activation of TFL fibers compared to the NEUg, likely due to the biomechanical demands associated with a supinated foot type. In contrast, the use of PRO appeared to promote relaxation of the TFL fibers by inducing internal rotation of the lower limb. Based on these preliminary results from a cross-sectional study in a healthy population, it is recommended to assess foot type when addressing ITBS and to consider the use of PRO as a complementary therapeutic strategy alongside conventional treatments.
