Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The transition towards sustainable and increasingly electrified transportation is driving significant changes across power and energy systems. The growing deployment of electric vehicles and other forms of electrified mobility is closely interconnected with developments in renewable and distributed energy resources, energy storage, hydrogen technologies, power electronics, charging infrastructures, and intelligent energy management. At the same time, the increasing interaction between transportation and energy systems is creating new challenges for the planning, operation, control, protection, monitoring, and resilience of electrical networks.

This Special Issue is organized in cooperation with the Universities Power Engineering Conference (UPEC) 2026 and aims to provide a forum for recent research and technological developments in power and energy engineering that can contribute to the evolution of e-mobility and electrified transportation systems. Contributions addressing theoretical, methodological, computational, experimental, and application-oriented aspects are welcome.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, electric mobility and charging infrastructures; vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-building technologies; power system planning and operation in the presence of electrified transport; renewable and distributed energy resources; batteries and other energy storage technologies; hydrogen and fuel-cell systems; power electronics and converter-based resources; microgrids and energy communities; flexibility and energy management; power system stability, protection, resilience, and power quality; monitoring, measurement, diagnostics, and sensing; optimization, forecasting, and uncertainty modelling; electricity markets and techno-economic assessment; digitalization, communication, interoperability, and cybersecurity; and data-driven, machine-learning, and artificial-intelligence applications for energy and mobility systems.

The Special Issue particularly welcomes contributions from UPEC 2026 participants while also encouraging submissions from the wider scientific community. Its objective is to bring together advances across different areas of power and energy engineering that can support the reliable, efficient, flexible, and sustainable integration of e-mobility into future energy systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. World Electric Vehicle Journal is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
