Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The ongoing challenges posed by viral infections highlight the critical need for advanced research in viral pathogenesis and vaccine development. This Special Issue seeks to explore the latest advancements in understanding the molecular mechanisms of viral diseases and the innovative approaches to vaccine strategy.

Viral pathogenesis research provides essential insights into how viruses infect hosts, evade immune responses, and cause disease. Understanding these mechanisms is key to developing targeted therapies and improving diagnostic tools. Topics of interest include viral entry and replication, immune modulation, host–pathogen interactions, and viral evolution.

In parallel, vaccine development remains at the forefront of global health efforts. The rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of agile vaccine platforms and robust immunization strategies. We invite contributions that address new vaccine technologies, such as mRNA vaccines, nanoparticle-based vaccines, and viral vector platforms, as well as those focusing on vaccine efficacy, safety, and resistance to emerging viral strains.

This Special Issue welcomes original research articles, reviews, and commentaries that highlight innovative findings in these areas, with an emphasis on practical applications in vaccine development. We aim to provide a comprehensive view of how research on viral pathogenesis can inform the creation of more effective and broadly protective vaccines, addressing both current viral threats and future global health challenges.

By advancing our understanding of viral diseases and vaccination strategies, this Special Issue aims to contribute significantly to the development of novel therapeutic and preventive measures, ultimately improving public health outcomes worldwide.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Vaccines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
