Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Skin-related complications linked to COVID-19 infection and vaccination have been observed during the pandemic. These complications include the worsening of inflammatory dermatoses like psoriasis and the reactivation of skin infections such as herpes zoster. The exact mechanism of these flares and skin manifestations is not yet fully understood. Molecular mimicry and immune cross-reaction are thought to be the triggers of hyperinflammation, leading to the induction of innate and adaptive immune responses that result in a flare. This Special Issue aims at elucidating the factors associated with cutaneous autoimmune disease post COVID-19 infection and vaccination. Topics of interest include novel insights into these flares, comparative studies elucidating distinctions and similarities in immune responses between them, and therapeutic interventions and outcomes. Long-term follow-up observations are also of interest.
