Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Sport tourism events offer an interesting setting for exploring how both visitors and residents experience and make sense of tourism. This Special Issue centers on the motivations, levels of satisfaction, perceived value and future behavioral intentions of those who attend or take part in these events. We are particularly interested in intentions to return, to recommend the event or destination and to revisit the host community, as these aspects are often used to gauge the success of an event and its contribution to destination competitiveness. Understanding how these events shape visitor attitudes, loyalty and their relationship with the place is therefore a key objective.
At the same time, the views and experiences of residents remain essential. Their sense of place, their level of support and the extent to which they perceive benefits or costs all play a decisive role in the social sustainability of sport tourism events. We welcome studies that look into community pride, impacts on quality of life and residents’ willingness to support future editions. In this context, the Special Issue may also include research examining the legacy and longer-term social, cultural, environmental and economic impacts of sport tourism events on host communities and destinations beyond the event itself.
This Special Issue is open to qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method approaches that demonstrate clear theoretical grounding and methodological rigor. Bringing together research on both visitors and residents can help generate insights that are useful for event organizers and destination managers seeking to improve participant experiences while also ensuring community well-being and longer-term sustainability.
As an optional theme, we also encourage contributions examining how Artificial Intelligence (AI) might help in analyzing or managing sport tourism events, whether through predictive tools, sentiment analysis, or other emerging applications.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Tourism and Hospitality is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
