Application of Symmetry in Gravity Researches

This special issue belongs to the section “Physics“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The approximation symmetry approach plays an important role in evaluating the exact solutions of the differential equations. The Noether symmetries, in particular, are not only a mechanism for dealing with the solution of the dynamic, but their presence also provides suitable conditions so that one can specify the universe models under the gravitational framework physically and analytically, according to our recent observations. Such symmetries are believed to be an appropriate mathematical approach, which often investigates the exact solutions and computes the associated conserved and required quantities. The method based on the symmetries plays a central role in reducing the non-linear equation to a linear equation system. The numerous conservation principles, such as conservation of energy and angular momentum, are specifically linked to the symmetries of a specified dynamical system and provide the conserved quantities, which seem to be the consequence of the certain type of symmetry being present in that mechanism. The current cosmic accelerated expansion has always been considered to be the most revolutionizing reality on the landscape of theoretical and observational modern cosmology. In order to take into account the late-time accelerated expansion, two main approaches have been proposed: the existence of dark energy, which exhibits strong negative pressure, and modified theories of gravity. Motivated by the aforementioned discussion, our focus is to collect good research papers admitting symmetries in the frame of gravity studies. Some potential topics are listed below, but submissions should not be limited to these topics:

  • Cosmology via symmetries;
  • Geometric nature of symmetries;
  • Probe the nature of dark energy in the framework of symmetries;
  • Symmetries in the higher-order gravity theory;
  • Symmetries as a geometric criterion;
  • Spherically symmetric solutions via symmetries;
  • Dynamical symmetries;
  • Reconstruction of the Lagrangian;
  • Physical significance of symmetries;
  • Symmetries of geodesic equations;
  • Non-local curvature and symmetries;
  • Symmetries and conservation laws;
  • Symmetries in extended gravity;
  • Astrophysical compact objects and symmetries.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
