Agricultural Technology and Engineering for Sustainable Agriculture
This special issue belongs to the section “Resources and Sustainable Utilization“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Sustainable agriculture is part of a necessary transformation for human society to achieve in order to move from “exploiting nature” to “living in harmony with nature”, and how to achieve sustainable agricultural development is a major issue. Agricultural engineering and technology serve as the core driving force for translating the concept of sustainable agriculture into practical implementation. It systematically breaks through the bottlenecks of “high consumption, high pollution, and low efficiency” in traditional agriculture by integrating multidisciplinary approaches—such as engineering, information technology, and ecology—and dimensions, including the improvement of production efficiency, efficient utilization of resources, reduction in environmental impact, and collaborative optimization of the industrial chain. This concept aims to achieve the coordinated unification of the three goals of “production, ecology, and livelihood” and provide operable and replicable technological paths and engineering solutions for the sustainable development of agriculture.
The goal of this Special Issue is to present the latest findings on the role of agricultural engineering and technology in advancing the sustainable development of agriculture.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but not limited to) the following:
- Soil health management methods and techniques;
- Efficient utilization of water resources;
- Conservation of biodiversity and green pest and disease control;
- Efficient recycling of resources;
- Techniques for reducing losses, lowering consumption, improving quality, and enhancing efficiency in agricultural production processes;
- Low-carbon agricultural technologies.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
