Dear Colleagues,

Prosthesis invites original research and reviews on cutting-edge prosthodontics across fixed, removable, and implant-supported rehabilitation, with a focus on the synergy between biomimetic material science and end-to-end digital workflows. Topics of interest include CAD/CAM, 3D printing, guided planning, AI-assisted diagnostics, digital occlusion and smile analysis; next-generation zirconia, hybrid ceramics, PEEK/PEKK, and advanced adhesive protocols; full-arch and immediate loading strategies; peri-implant soft-tissue management; therapeutic provisionals; and maintenance pathways and complication prevention. We particularly welcome studies reporting robust clinical and functional outcomes (survival, complications, masticatory performance), patient-reported outcomes (aesthetics, comfort, quality of life), cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. Eligible submissions include original articles, clinical trials, systematic reviews/meta-analyses, well-designed case series, technical notes, and reproducible digital workflow reports.

Background/Objectives: The rapid evolution of digital technologies has significantly transformed prosthodontic workflows, improving clinical precision, communication, and patient satisfaction. However, the extent to which dental professionals perceive, integrate, and evaluate these technologies remains insufficiently standardized. This study aimed to develop and validate a questionnaire for assessing perceptions, attitudes, perceived advantages, barriers, and future intentions regarding the use of digital technologies in prosthodontic practice. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 420 dental professionals (305 dentists and 115 dental technicians) from Northeastern Romania. The 27-item questionnaire, structured on five theoretical dimensions, was distributed online via the Survio platform. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s Alpha, and construct validity was analyzed through Exploratory Factor Analysis (Principal Component Analysis with Varimax rotation). Conclusions: Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients ranged from 0.700 to 0.799 across the five dimensions, indicating acceptable to very good internal reliability. The Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin value (0.646) and Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity (p < 0.001) confirmed data suitability for factor analysis. The validated questionnaire represents a reliable and conceptually coherent tool for evaluating professional perspectives on digitalization in prosthodontics. Its application can inform educational strategies, guide institutional investments, and support a balanced transition toward integrated digital workflows in clinical and laboratory settings. CAD–CAM-Fabricated Provisional Restoration for Bite Registration in Combined Fixed and Removable Prosthodontic Rehabilitation

Background: Elderly patients often experience difficulty adapting to occlusal reconstruction. Therefore, accurate bite registration is mandatory to ensure precise transfer of the established maxillomandibular relationship to the definitive prosthesis. However, conventional bite registration methods may compromise reproducibility because of deformation of registration materials and instability of mucosa-supported record bases. Methods: A 65-year-old woman with the primary complaints of unstable occlusion and difficulty in mastication underwent occlusal reconstruction. After occlusal stabilization using provisional crowns, bridges, and removable partial dentures, definitive impressions were made with and without the provisional restorations. The casts were scanned, and the digital datasets were superimposed to reproduce the established occlusal morphology of the provisional restorations. This occlusal morphology was used to design a tooth-supported computer-aided design–computer-aided manufacturing (CAD–CAM)-fabricated milled provisional restoration. Following intraoral verification of occlusal stability, the milled provisional restoration served as a mounting guide for the working casts on an articulator. Definitive crowns, bridges, and removable partial dentures were then fabricated. Results: Following comprehensive prosthodontic rehabilitation with definitive prostheses, occlusal stability and masticatory function improved, and the patient was satisfied with the functional outcomes of treatment. Conclusions: A tooth-supported CAD–CAM-fabricated milled provisional restoration used as a bite registration device enables potentially more consistent transfer of the maxillomandibular relationship while avoiding mucosal displacement and material deformation. This technique, which integrates digital and conventional workflows, may provide a new option for addressing adaptation challenges in occlusal reconstruction. Full article
