Polyurethanes

Dear Colleagues,

Today, polyurethanes are placed in the seventh position among the most produced polymers worldwide, due to their versatility, which enables the obtaining of materials with different properties just by manipulating their composition. In this way, porous (flexible and rigid foams), dispersion (waterborne polyurethanes), and compact (thermoplastic, thermosetting, elastomers) materials can be obtained, making their use possible in multiple applications. Monomers for polyurethane synthesis can be both of petrochemical and renewable origin. However, due to the depletion of the world’s crude oil stock and economic, environmental, and social concerns, interest in the development of polyurethanes derived from renewable sources has skyrocketed. This collection covers all topics related to the science and technology of polyurethanes, including synthesis, characterization, final applications, and manufacturing techniques (advanced and traditional), among other topics. Research on polyurethanes in a porous and compact form, as well as their (nano)composites, is considered in this topic collection with the aim of sharing knowledge related with the last advances in polyurethane-based materials.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
