Dear Colleagues,
The growing global demand for sustainable and efficient energy technologies has positioned polymer-based materials at the forefront of next-generation energy systems. This Special Issue delves into the innovative development and application of smart and functional polymers in energy harvesting and storage technologies. Polymers offer a unique combination of tunable electrical properties, lightweight nature, mechanical flexibility and processability, making them ideal candidates for advanced batteries, supercapacitors, solar cells, piezoelectric devices, triboelectric nanogenerators and phase change materials. Recent advances in polymer chemistry, nanostructuring techniques and hybrid material design have enabled enhanced energy density, mechanical stability and multifunctionality. The issue explores conductive, dielectric, piezoelectric and thermally responsive polymers, as well as polymer blends, foams and nanocomposites, highlighting their roles in improving ion transport, charge storage and energy conversion efficiency. Particular attention is given to solid-state electrolytes, flexible and wearable energy devices and the integration of biodegradable and bio-based polymers to address environmental challenges and promote green energy solutions. By bridging molecular design with scalable device applications, this collection underscores the transformative potential of advanced polymeric materials in driving a sustainable energy future across portable electronics, electric vehicles and grid-scale renewable energy systems.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
