Dear Colleagues,
Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have emerged as core materials for the lightweight design and functional integration of high-end equipment in aerospace, new energy, and rail transit sectors, due to their prominent strengths of low weight, high specific strength, and excellent design flexibility. Investigations into their mechanical performance enhancement, damage and failure mechanisms, and functionalization bear remarkable academic significance and engineering value for breaking through engineering application bottlenecks and advancing the technological iteration of composites.
This Special Issue focuses on the latest research progress in mechanical enhancement and functionalization of FRP composites. We invite submissions covering, but not limited to, the following topics: mechanical enhancement strategies (e.g., interlaminar toughening, high energy absorption, structural topology optimization), multiscale damage evolution and failure analysis, multifunctional integration (e.g., high electrical/thermal conductivity, electromagnetic interference shielding, lightning strike protection, sound absorption), as well as multi-physics coupling simulation and characterization techniques.
Original research papers, review articles, and short communications involving theoretical, numerical, and experimental studies are all welcome. Submissions reporting innovative breakthroughs and insights into the structural–functional integration of high-performance composites are particularly encouraged. Accepted papers will collectively showcase the latest advances and development trends in this field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
