Dear Colleagues,
Global climate change poses an increasing threat to horticultural crop production, with abiotic stresses, particularly heat, drought, and salinity, critically compromising yield stability and product quality. Elucidating the genetic and molecular bases of abiotic stress tolerance is imperative for breeding climate-resilient varieties. Recent breakthroughs in high-throughput technologies have empowered comprehensive investigations spanning multiple molecular layers, ranging from DNA sequence variation and transcriptional reprogramming to post-translational modifications, metabolic fluxes, and epigenetic regulation. This Special Issue welcomes original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that leverage integrative multi-omics approaches, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, and phenomics, to dissect abiotic stress responses, identify key regulatory nodes, and reconstruct tolerance networks in horticultural crops. We particularly encourage submissions employing systems-level data integration, machine learning-assisted network modeling, and multi-omics-informed breeding strategies. By bridging fundamental discoveries with practical applications, this Special Issue will accelerate the development of next-generation, climate-smart horticultural varieties.
