Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue is launched in collaboration with the 5th International Conference on Herbal and Traditional Medicine (HTM 2026). It aims to provide a multidisciplinary platform for researchers to bridge the gap between ancient healing wisdom and contemporary scientific advancements. We invite original research and review articles that explore the multifaceted aspects of herbal medicine, ranging from advanced phytochemical profiling and metabolomics to the elucidation of molecular mechanisms of action.

The scope of this Special Issue encompasses quality control standardization, pre-clinical safety assessments, and evidence-based clinical trials. Furthermore, we encourage submissions focusing on modern innovation, including the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in drug discovery, innovative drug delivery systems (e.g., nanotechnology), and sustainable cultivation practices. By fostering international collaboration and promoting rigorous scientific validation, this Special Issue seeks to accelerate the integration of traditional medicine into modern healthcare systems to enhance global health and sustainable development.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Plants is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs).
