Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The development of nanostructured materials, along with a deeper understanding of diverse photophysical phenomena, has significantly advanced the field of optoelectronics. Moreover, the integration of nanomaterials with photonic technologies has enabled the creation of highly efficient nanophotonic devices, enhancing light–matter interactions and opening new opportunities for next-generation optoelectronic applications, exploiting their unique optical and electronic properties.

Advances in nanomaterials—such as two-dimensional semiconductors, quantum dots, perovskites, plasmonic nanostructures, and hybrid systems—have enabled unprecedented control over light generation, manipulation, and detection. These developments are driving the creation of highly efficient, miniaturized, and multifunctional devices for applications in communications, sensing, imaging, energy conversion, computing, and emerging quantum technologies.

This Special Issue focuses on recent progress in the fundamental understanding, design, fabrication, and application of nano-optoelectronic materials and devices. We seek contributions on various topics, including novel nanomaterials, photodetectors, light-emitting diodes, photovoltaic devices, integrated photonic systems, and neuromorphic and quantum optoelectronics, as well as advanced characterization techniques.

The goal of this collection is to provide a platform for researchers from physics, materials science, chemistry, and engineering to present cutting-edge discoveries and technological advances. By highlighting emerging trends and challenges, the Special Issue aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and accelerate the development of next-generation nano-optoelectronic technologies for a wide range of scientific and industrial applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Photonics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
