Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Plants are a source of a wide range of compounds that serve as ingredients in many pharmaceutical agents. However, while there are many scientific reports regarding the identification of new compounds, their pharmacological activity has not been fully investigated. For this reason, accompanied by the fact that medicinal plants remain a subject of scientific interest, the search for new biologically active compounds and studies on new applications of already-known natural compounds, especially in lifestyle-related diseases, are both relevant and necessary.

This Special Issue, titled “Bioactive Compounds from Plants and Their Therapeutic Applications in Lifestyle-Related Diseases”, aims to gather both original articles and comprehensive reviews that elucidate the pharmacological actions of plant-derived compounds through studies using cell lines, animal models, and clinical trials. Submitted manuscripts should focus on the wide range of diseases related to lifestyle, such as obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, hepatic steatosis, dementia, and mental health disorders. Papers reporting medicinal properties with new molecular mechanisms are welcome. Authors are encouraged to submit research on both single components and mixtures, provided they include comprehensive chemical characterization.

We believe that contributions to this Special Issue will advance the treatment and prevention of lifestyle-related diseases and ultimately benefit patient health.

We look forward to receiving your submission.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
