Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Malnutrition among medical inpatients remains a significant challenge worldwide, contributing to prolonged hospital stays, higher complication rates, increased healthcare costs, and mortality. Nutritional support plays a central role in preventing and managing these adverse outcomes, yet strategies for screening, intervention, and follow-up are still heterogeneous and often insufficiently integrated into clinical practice.

This Special Issue, “The Effect of Nutritional Support on Malnourished Medical Inpatients”, invites high-quality manuscripts that explore innovative approaches, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and implementation studies focused on optimizing nutritional care in hospitalized patients. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: early detection and screening tools; oral, enteral, and parenteral nutrition strategies; multidisciplinary interventions; and the evaluation of clinical, functional, immunological, and psychosocial outcomes. Studies examining long-term benefits, cost-effectiveness, and policy implications are also highly encouraged.

By collecting evidence from diverse healthcare settings, this Special Issue seeks to advance understanding of the impact of nutritional support, provide practical guidance for clinicians, and inform decision-makers. We welcome submissions that contribute to improving the quality of hospital care and the recovery of malnourished medical inpatients.
