Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to highlight emerging advances in the regulation of proteostasis in health and disease, with a particular focus on nutritional and nutraceutical strategies. Proteostasis—the dynamic balance of protein synthesis, folding, trafficking, and degradation—is essential for cellular integrity and organismal homeostasis. Its dysregulation is a key driver of aging and multiple chronic diseases, including metabolic, neurodegenerative, inflammatory, and degenerative disorders.
Growing evidence indicates that bioactive dietary compounds, functional foods, and nutraceuticals can modulate proteostasis networks, including autophagy, unfolded protein responses, molecular chaperone systems, proteasomal activity, and stress granule dynamics. Through the regulation of translational control and cellular stress responses, these interventions represent promising non-invasive approaches to preserve protein quality control, enhance cellular resilience, and promote healthy aging.
We welcome original research articles, reviews, and translational studies exploring molecular mechanisms, nutraceutical interventions, and dietary modulations of proteostasis pathways across physiological and pathological conditions. This Special Issue seeks to foster interdisciplinary research integrating nutrition science, molecular biology, and preventive medicine, with the goal of advancing evidence-based nutraceutical strategies for health promotion and disease prevention.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Nutrients is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
