Digital Environments and Inequities in Children and Adolescents’ Nutrition and Health
This special issue belongs to the section "Nutrition Methodology & Assessment".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Children’s and adolescents’ dietary behaviors are increasingly shaped by digital environments, including social media, online marketing, and food delivery platforms. At the same time, persistent health inequities continue to influence nutritional outcomes across populations.
This Special Issue aims to address key gaps in understanding how digital exposures interact with behavioral pathways and social determinants to influence youth nutrition and health. We welcome studies examining mechanisms linking digital environments to dietary behaviors, patterns such as ultra-processed food consumption and meal timing, and the clustering of lifestyle risk factors.
Contributions using innovative methodologies and focusing on vulnerable or underrepresented populations are particularly encouraged. The goal is to generate evidence that informs effective interventions and policies to improve nutritional health and reduce inequities among children and adolescents. In addition, intervention and policy strategies aimed at improving dietary behaviours in digitally mediated contexts.
