Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the Special Issue on “Diets in the Care of People with Obesity”, which aims to explore the current knowledge and practices of dietary design and counselling as key components of care for people living with obesity, considering their special individual needs. There are now over one billion people living with obesity worldwide. Both prevention policies and individualised care are essential to address this epidemic. Treatment of obesity requires multi-pronged strategies, which may include drugs or surgery, as well as lifestyle interventions. More effective pharmacotherapy is now available, but not widely accessible, and there is still no uniform approach to prescription or treatment protocols. Lifestyle interventions, including the design and personalization of diets, are unevenly provided, and health systems often struggle to meet the needs of individual patients.

This Special Issue will analyse the role of dietary design and counselling within current obesity treatment protocols in children and adults. It will also examine existing health system capacities and resources, and discuss the potential role of public and private operators in supporting healthy lifestyle choices. We welcome submissions including reviews, clinical studies, and other original research that can inform better dietary strategies and quality of care for people living with obesity.

We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions
