Advanced Polymer Nanocomposites for Thermal Management and Energy Storage
This special issue belongs to the section “Nanocomposite Materials“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As power electronic devices continue to evolve towards higher power and miniaturization, more stringent requirements are imposed on material performance. Polymer composites, owing to their advantages of light weight, corrosion resistance, and ease of processing, have consistently been at the forefront of research. However, the inherently low thermal conductivity of most polymers limits their applications in thermal management, while the complex interplay between electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties poses challenges for energy storage. The advent of nanoscience has brought about revolutionary changes in this field. By incorporating nanofillers into polymer matrices, it is possible to synergistically enhance thermal conductivity, insulation, and mechanical properties, thereby opening up new avenues for advanced thermal management and energy storage applications.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform to showcase the latest breakthroughs in the design, synthesis, characterization, and applications of advanced polymer nanocomposites. It focuses on bridging the gap between fundamental materials research and the practical implementation of thermal management and energy storage. We welcome the submission of contributions from materials scientists, chemists, physicists, and engineers that address the multifaceted challenges in this dynamic field. The scope of this Special Issue includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:
Synthesis and Fabrication: Advanced methods for the dispersion, alignment, and structural design of nanofillers within polymer matrices.
Multifunctional Composites: Development of composites that integrate thermal management with other functionalities.
Thermal Management Applications: Utilization of polymer nanocomposites as thermal interface materials (TIMs), heat sinks, and thermal insulation components for electronic and power systems.
Energy Storage Applications: Polymer-based composites for batteries, high-temperature dielectric polymers, and nanocomposites for capacitive energy storage.
Advanced Modeling and Characterization Methods: Multiscale computational models for predicting thermal and electrical behaviors, as well as novel techniques for examining structure–property relationships.
We are soliciting high-quality original research articles and comprehensive review papers that offer profound insights and demonstrate significant progress in this field. We particularly encourage the submission of interdisciplinary research that showcases novel material concepts, reveal fundamental mechanisms, or demonstrate innovative applications with a high degree of practical impact.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
