Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Background and History of this Topic

The integration of nanotechnology into biomedical sciences has revolutionized modern healthcare. Nanomaterials now enable precision control at the molecular level, advancing targeted drug delivery, diagnostic imaging, and tissue regeneration. In particular, their tunable surface chemistry, high surface-to-volume ratio, and biocompatibility have opened new avenues for cancer therapy, wound healing, and regenerative medicine.

Aim and Scope of the Special Issue

This Special Issue aims to gather multidisciplinary research that bridges materials science, chemistry, bioengineering, and clinical medicine. It will focus on innovative nanomaterial systems for diagnosis, treatment, and tissue regeneration, encouraging both experimental and translational contributions.

Key areas include the following:

Design and functionalization of nanocarriers for targeted drug and gene delivery in oncology;

Stimuli-responsive, hybrid, and multifunctional nanomaterials for controlled release and imaging;

Bioinspired, polymeric, and metallic nanoparticles for therapeutic and diagnostic applications;

Hydrogel and scaffold-based nanocomposites for regenerative medicine and oral surgery;

Photothermal, photodynamic, immunomodulatory, and chemo-synergistic nanotherapies;

AI-assisted design and modeling of nanomaterials in biological environments;

Biosafety, toxicology, and clinical translation of nanomaterials and nanomedicines;

Nanobiosensors and imaging platforms for early cancer detection and disease monitoring.

Cutting-Edge Research

This issue will highlight the latest breakthroughs in nanomedicine, including the development of smart nanomaterials capable of responding to physiological cues, nanofabricated scaffolds for enhanced regeneration, and multifunctional therapeutic platforms combining diagnosis and therapy (theranostics). Interdisciplinary collaborations combining biology, chemistry, physics, and AI modeling are especially encouraged.

What Kind of Papers We Are Soliciting

We welcome the following:

Original Research Articles presenting experimental or computational advances in nanomaterials for biomedical use;

Comprehensive Reviews summarizing state-of-the-art progress in nanotechnology, regenerative dentistry, or nanomedicine;

Short Communications and Perspective Papers introducing innovative methodologies or emerging trends in nano-enabled cancer therapy.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
