Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue of Nanomaterials introduces a variety of topics centered on low-dimensional nanomaterials with high photoelectrochemical properties.

Low-dimensional nanomaterials are systems in which the electronic wavefunction is confined to at least the nanoscale range, below about 100 nm. Therefore, the occurrence of quantum-sized effects significantly alters the electronic properties, and thus the optical properties. Low-dimensional nanomaterials are usually categorized as nanoparticles (0D), nanorods, nanowires and nanoribbons (1D), and atomically thin layer-like materials (2D). However, more complex 3D nanostructures are now emerging.

Low-dimensional nanomaterials with high photoelectrochemical properties have attracted interest due to their unique chemical and electronic structures, which have attracted widespread attention in the fields of optics, photoelectrochemistry, electronics, catalysis, and biology, stimulating the development of related research and promoting many new directions. Despite significant progress in recent decades, further in-depth studies are needed to elucidate the development of low-dimensional nanomaterials with high photoelectrochemical properties for potential applications in various fields, such as clean energy conversion, span absorption, photoemission, scattering, nonlinear optics, ultrafast phenomena, photoconductivity, photoelectrochemical, and laser fields.

This Special Issue, entitled "Low-Dimensional Nanomaterials with High Photoelectrochemical Properties", aims to report on the latest innovative research and developments in this field, covering a wide range of topics including:

  1. Low-dimensional nanomaterials for applications in catalysis;
  2. Low-dimensional nanomaterials for applications in energy conversion;
  3. Low-dimensional nanomaterials for applications in environmental or biological fields;
  4. The novel mechanism of photoelectrochemical processes;
  5. Other photoelectrochemical processes.

We welcome contributions from all interested groups.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
