Nanomaterials | World Photography Day—Beyond the Visible: Nanotechnology in Imaging

On 19 August, World Photography Day celebrates the power of imaging to capture, document, and communicate the world around us. However, today, imaging extends far beyond conventional photography and the range of human vision. Advances in nanotechnology are enabling us to visualize structures at the nanoscale, trace biological processes with specialized probes, and develop compact optical systems that reshape how light is captured and processed.

To mark World Photography Day, Nanomaterials (ISSN 2079-4991) presents a selection of recent research highlighting how nanomaterials and nanophotonic technologies are expanding the possibilities of imaging, ranging from resolving nanoscale structures and visualizing biological environments to developing metalenses and next-generation imaging devices.
