Nanomaterials | Summary of the 2026 Editorial Board Meeting of the “Biology and Medicines” Section
The journal Nanomaterials (ISSN: 2079-4991) recently held an online Editorial Board meeting for the Section “Biology and Medicines”. The meeting was hosted by the Section Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Eleonore Fröhlich. Thirteen Editorial Board Members were in attendance. We sincerely thank everyone for joining and providing thoughtful comments, and we look forward to welcoming more members to future meetings.
We reviewed and discussed the following topics with the attendees:
- The journal’s primary objectives for the year, which focus on attracting high-quality submissions to enhance the journal's academic reputation and global impact;
- Ongoing efforts to improve the peer review process for both authors and reviewers;
- Plans to increase social media engagement throughout the year.
The following information was covered in the Members’ discussion:
- Strategies to maintain a wide reviewer database while identifying and prioritizing experts who consistently provide high-quality reports;
- The impact of AI on reviewing; members emphasized the need for clear communication of AI policies to reviewers to maintain manuscript confidentiality and ensure that reports critically assess data rather than just sentence structure;
- Suggestions to publicly highlight the journal's rigorous standards to demonstrate a clear prioritization of high-quality manuscripts;
- Exploring opportunities for future collaborations, including organizing relevant scientific events with affiliated institutions to further the journal's academic reach and objectives;
