Organics/Inorganics and/or Their Bioactivities with Phytochemistry

Dear Colleagues,

Plants contains abundant organics and inorganics, which are attributed to their multiple bioactivities. Inorganic substances, including phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese etc., play an important role in the plant physiological state and human health. For instance, moderate intake of selenium and zinc are essential to body immunity function, while excessive intake of arsenic damages nervous and respiratory system. Besides, organics such as polyphenols, polysaccharides, amino acid, proteins, alkaloid, organic acid, saccharides, volatile substances, and vitamins, have drawn unprecedented attention on account of their prominent bioactivities and biosecurity. For instance, polyphenol have been exploited to ameliorate inflammation, prevent neurodegenerative diseases, treat cancer etc. The volatile compounds and saccharides, on the other hand, decide the flavor and texture of the plants as a kind of food. More comprehensive and in-depth investigations of organics or inorganics is in urgent need.

The aim of this issue is to highlight the achievements surrounding the organics or inorganics in plants or excavating their health benefits. Manuscripts describing original research, perspectives, and reviews focusing on organics/inorganics and/or their bioactivities with phytochemistry will be welcome in this Special Issue.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
