Dear Colleagues,
The PET image as a biomarker is created by radiotracers labeled with positron emitters with a clear preference and dominance for fluorine-18 (t1/2=109.8 min, 18F). The synthesis of 18F-labeled radiotracers requires innovative radiochemistry for the rapid and effective incorporation of 18F under conditions compatible with the structural and functional integrity of the target compounds. This Special Issue will discuss new radiochemistry concepts and techniques for the preparation of 18F-labeled compounds with a special emphasis on radiofluorine-acceptor chemistry, umpolung, late-stage radio-fluorinations, and transition-metal-mediated cross-coupling reactions.
